Do both parents need to get a PIN? I know student needs one and a parent needs one but I can not find if both parents need a PIN or if only one PIN is enough.

(Married, joint filers, both willing to do whatever it takes)

Only one parent may need a PIN, but it may be necessary for the other parent to get one for purposes of ‘signing’ the loan documents. Depends on whether you are getting a PLUS loan and whose name its going to be in.

When the FAFSA was completed for my daughter’s freshman year, I got a PIN in my name since I was completing all the documentation. When the time came to fill out the paperwork for the PLUS loan, though, that was going in my husband’s name (since I am a stay-at-home Mom without a regular paycheck). He needed his own PIN for that information.
