hmm quite nice time of a year, in San Francisco, pretty much the same as summer, had some major rain a couple weeks ago, some fog once in a while.... Hella sucks not ever having a snow day tho.

Add me to the no school list. Blizzards are great. ;)

There's probably around 6-8 inches in Pittsburgh right now. There was even more in Philly...like, close to a foot of snow.

I'm in Boston and we got hit with a ton of snow. Schools (goverment buildings too I think) are closed down, but of course, not MIT! We at Next house still have to walk half a mile through all of this stuff to class. I think they cleared off the sidewalks though, so hopefully it won't be quite as bad as the hip high stuff I was going through yesterday. :P

I'm in State College (almost exact center of PA, where Penn State is), and we have a foot of snow or so. No school cancellation, because the majority of it came down Saturday, but we also got some today, so am wondering if the roads will be icy enough to have one tomorrow.

32 inches just south of Boston, no school for us

Ahhh the San Francisco Bay Area... how I love thee. :)

But seriously... I love it here, although I could go for some snow from time to time. Today it was about sixty degrees and sunny... wonderful. Anybody that gets into Berkeley should definitely go. Or Stanford, for that matter. Tha Bay Area rocks, and is obviously the best part of California (not to start a debate, or anything ;)).

DEFINATLY agree, there is no city like SF it is so great... in every way... but umm Berkeley is WAY better than Stanford... pretty out today, cloudy, but no low fog

You know what ticks me off?

People who don't shovel the snow off the strip of sidewalk in front of their houses.

C'mon, if you're going to shovel the driveway, it won't hurt to shovel the sidewalk too. I saw an old lady walking on the street because the sidewalk wasn't clear and a huge truck passed by just inches away from her.

Just outside of philly with 16 inches from the weekend and two inches from today.
the wind was blowing like crazy on sunday, gusting around 40 miles an hour all day. very dry snow, two hour delay to school today since there was all day sunday to clean up, and it was a half day for exams anyway. biggest storm in two years, but i do remember the jan of 96 storm with 38 inches of wet snow. that got us off school for a week and a day... sigh...
digging my car out of the street was something else... the plow hadnt done me any favors...follow my profile to my xanga and my xanga to my yahoo pictures if you care that much :)

its the temperature tho! goodness... highs hovering near, gasp, 16 degrees during the day and 4 at night... always with the windchill ya know... today of about 11, yesterday of 8 and saturday of 4.. and at night around -15...

ive never had a "wind rash" before but after digging out my car i found out how much fun THAT is

go eagles

This snow storm is really making me wonder if I want to go to college on the east coast...maybe I stick to good ol' CA :)

Wait, when you shovel snow, where do you actually shovel it to?

Yeah- sf_student, I definitely agree. Berkeley is way better than Stanford (one might even say Berkeley "bests" Stanford). But either one is good.

PS- cannedish- where in NorCal do you live?

In a small suburb near Walnut Creek/Concord named Danville. Ever heard of it?

i wish i could bring all you west-coasters in for a blizzard weekend, its fun... sorta. but its something new, just,... something you grow up with here and dont even think about it too much.. aside from CALL SCHOOL OFF CALL SCHOOL OFF!!! and putting on 57 layers and playing in the snow... and that hot and sweaty feeling when your nose is freezing off but all the running around has got your heart going.. and snow men and snow forts and snow ball fights. ill always remember coming inside when i was little and my mom would give us hot chocolate and the whole house would smell like drying coats and hats and gloves.... its not the same when i have to make it myself...

when you shovel your drive way the snow goes to the edges of the driveway, the plows push the snow with and angled blade to the edges of the street, making the streets narrower. we dont have sidewalk here, but when the snow shoveled off the sidewalk goes further into the lawn or just out of the way.., you just end up making paths or channels in the snow, depending on how deep it is. the streets are all salted by trucks that come by, usually right after the plows.. the problem with that, however, is that the salt is extremely corrosive to the environment and to cars and structures. plus the salt stop working below something like 23 degrees, and considering that the high today was 19, you can see how much good the salt does.... but its really not that big of a deal... i think that the news has fun with storms because, i mean, come on, its january, what else is there to do...? and the media of course loves pain and suffering... but we just shovel out and go on with life, people drive slower on the roads, walk more carefully on pavement and bundle up wearing a pair of boots instead of flats ... its pretty fun :)
sorry, im rambling, but i have a latin final exam tomorrow and i REALLY dont feel like studying any more...
