The Social Scene at Midd

I asked a similar question in the Conn College thread and am hoping someone can be of help to me here too. I am a recruited athlete at several NESCAC schools and wondering what the social scene on Midd's campus is like. Are substance free dorms generally accepted? Are there people on campus who don't drink? Can you fit into the school without being a drinker or would another school be a better fit? Any advice offered would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

when i visited Midd last week i had a host who admitted to not drinking, i think she has plenty of friends and is happy. are you a girl or a boy, because drinking seemed to be more prevalent on halls with boys. good luck!

I live on a co-ed hall that is not designated as sub-free, but basically is. I think we were just all really specific on our roommate questionnaires and the admissions people (or whoever does it) matched us really well. We're not anti-social at all, we just don't drink. It's nice because our bathroom is the nicest in the building as a result (i.e. no one ever throws up) and there are no drunk people stumbling back at three in the morning.
All dorms here are assumed to be sub-free (and there's Xenia, the actual sub-free residence house for sophomores and up), which is obviously not the case. As I said though, they do a great job placing people together based on what they say on their questionnaires. So all in all... yes the sub-free life is accepted and you don't have to drink. I haven't touched a drink here.
I'm a freshman, by the way.
