the sorting hat

I think the residential college system is awesome... one question... how do they place you? any current students care to describe the distinct characteristics of each residential college?
just curious...

You shouldn't worry about opinions of each college's character until you get here for O-week. That takes a lot of the fun out of it.

The colleges are assigned randomly, readjusting for an even mix of ethnicities, genders, majors, and personalities at each college.

Any of the "distinct characteristics" in personality among the colleges are self-imposed. They do maintain their own traditions, but as Clendenenator said, it's much more fun to wait until O-Week to find out about those.

In terms of facilities, though, Lovett has a really cool underground black box theater/bar/coffeehouse-type space called Lyle's. Right now we're working on reinstating Friday night coffeehouse, where coffee is served after 1 a.m. on Friday nights down in Lyle's. It's a really cool performance space, and lots of student groups, in addition to KTRU Battle of the Bands, have performances down there.

I can't really speak about any of the other colleges' cool facilities. If anyone else would like to brag about their own colleges, feel free.

clendenenator, i guess i'm thinking too far ahead. I'm not even accepted yet lol

but like NYSKins's idea. let's turn this into a bragging forum for people's colleges.
