The Sorting Hat

Umm, yeah, this is random, but I was talking with my fried today about which Harry Potter house we would be in. I hope that I would be in Gryffindor, but most people would, so maybe that's just my own opinion. Which house you YOU be in?

I just took this quiz, and I'm a Gryffindor. Yay!
<a href="http://nimbo.net/quiz/houses.html%5B/url%5D">http://nimbo.net/quiz/houses.html</a></p>

Gryffindor- Harvard
Ravenclaw- Yale
Slytherin- Princeton
Hufflepuff- Cornell

That's juts how I see it if you put an Ivy league spin on it.

Cool! I just took the quiz, and I'm in Gryffindor, too! Gosh! Now I feel like a real nerd (as if I wasn't one before)!

I'm in Slytherin. Hail Princeton!

Ravenclaw!

tlaktan-are you REALLY a slytherin?

I think that if I had to rate the 4 best houses I would rank it like this:

1)Gryffindor-everyone's sentimental favorite. Even though no one ever admits it, it's true. This house represents courage. I'm not that smart(1230 SAT) or hard-working, but I'm not afraid to stand up for what I believe in. I am ranked in the top of my class, so I'm not exactly average, though. I stand up for people(started a bullying prevention week at my h.s.). I am going skydiving next weekend, so I'm not afraid of stuff, either.

Gryffindor is composed of semi-intelligent people who have a varying amount of work-ethic. Hermione works extremely hard, but Ron's pretty lazy. As long as you do the right things for society, and don't back down because of fear/selfishness, you're a Gryffindor. I think Harvard is a Gryffindor because it's the most prestigious/most coveted college on the planet. There's no "Homeless to Yale." "Legally Blond" was not set at Columbia. When people refer to top institutions, they don't say Yale and Harvard. They say Harvard and Yale. CC'ers always put H in front of YP. All the "good" characters in Harry Potter seemed to be or were in Gryffindor. Dumbledore was a Gryffindor.

Slytherin- Slytherins are not very trustworthy, but you have to hand it to them, they are pretty cunning and smart. Slytherins are the main competitors with Gryffindors, but good(Gryffindor) always seems to triumph over evil(Slytherin). Slytherins are talented, but they are sneaky and only think of themselves. They are also predjudice. Slytherins are definitely capable of succeeding, but they lack morals and are selfish. Who actually wants to be a Slytherin? Most people at least want to feel like they are helping society in some ways.

I think of Princeton as being a slytherin because it just seems very elitist and snotty. Sorry if I offend anyone =). This is definetely a baseless assertion. It just seems that with the "eating clubs" at Princeton and the preppiness, the students just act as if they are a level intellectually and socially "above" everyone else. Princeton also has some very shady admissions practices. Remember that time Princeton hacked into H and Y's computers? That's a judge of character, in my opinion. <a href="http://www.yaledailynews.com/article.asp?AID=19454%5B/url%5D">http://www.yaledailynews.com/article.asp?AID=19454</a></p>

Ravenclaw-I think University of Chicago would be a Ravenclaw. All the students are very intellectual, but are somewhat snotty about it. They don't seem to relate to the rest of society because they are so smart, but they have good intentions. Generally, Ravenclaws are bookworms, and lack courage.

Hufflepuff- I consider this to be the worst house. People in Hufflepuff are weak and cowardly. They aren't that smart, but they are known for being loyal and polite. I would prefer being a Hufflepuff to being a Slytherin, but Slytherins are much more accomplished, so they get a higher ranking. I don't know of a college that's a Hufflepuff. Maybe Cornell because it's the "easiest" ivy?

I'm a Gryffindor.

LOL. I haven't read any of the Harry Potter books, so I don't know.

Although, the sound of slithering doesn't sound too great.

I'm Gryffindor as well. :)

Yeah I got Ravenclaw... I thought I would. :p

I like to think of Ravenclaw as Georgetown. Because I'm going there. :D

Hate to break it to you guys, but that quiz all depends on the last question. You simply pick which house you like best and it puts you into it. Go ahead, and try it yourself because it worked for me for all four houses.

haha, i've taken multiples of these quizzes and get placed different places every time. Though I'd like to think I'd be in ravenclaw. Yeah nerds.

i wanna be Gryffindor.......neeed to ask Hermoine's secret fo success :D

tlaktan: u have not read HP??
sorry, no offence yeah.... :p

Ravenclaw according to that quiz...

And Slytherin according to Calidan's and Hoo's rankings :)

haha gryffindor isn't my sentimental favorite because courage seems negligible without substantial intelligence to back it up and direct it. i'd much rather go to UChi than hahvahd. (take a wild guess as to which house i belong in ;) )

haha hoo how do you sustain such enthusiasm about hp in the gaps between books (which are getting progressively worse and worse :( )?

hey i re-read all five books rite b4 my mid yr exams(in july) and had no tiem for phy or chem...but surprise surprise!! i failed phy and D for chem.... my mom wnated to throw those books away after tt!! :o

math was the only one i prepared for so got A.... :)

zpmqxonw - That's not true. On the last question, I put that I'd probably do best in either Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw, but it still put me in Gryffindor. Now I really feel like a nerd because I'm actually arguing this.

"haha gryffindor isn't my sentimental favorite because courage seems negligible without substantial intelligence to back it up and direct it."

You don't think that preventing Voldemort's rise to power again worth fighting for?

Let's use a real-life scenario. Say you are in a bus. The bus drives onto a bridge, but goes over the railing and into a 40 ft. deep pond. It's a early spring day, so the water is very cold. You make it out one of the windows of the bus, and safely make it onto shore. You remember that a young girl and the bus driver are still on the bus. Would you jump back into the water to save the girl and the driver? Let's say that you are only an okay swimmer, and the chances of you being successful or surviving are less than 20%. Btw, you already called 911, but they will take 30 minutes to get there.

I don't think that I am unintelligent, I just think that it's important to actually use knowledge to help people, not to sit around reading books all day. It's not like I'm stupid. I am an IB-candidate and am graduating 3rd out of 400+ students.

I totally would be gryffindor
