I got a freaking 570 on on of their practice tests and my exam is on May 2, 2009. The weird this is that I was scoring 700-720 range on the Barrons and 750-790 range on the Princeton Review. I really want to score a 780. Any advice?

Haha, that seems pretty demoralizing. However, I would find the Princeton Review tests more reliable to predict your actual score, so don’t feel bad!

Which subject are you taking? I find that tests for some subjects are harder on sparknotes than anywhere else, while I also find certain barrons and princeton review’s test easier (such as in biology). That 570 might have been a fluke, since that is a large drop from the 700s range. In any case, all three of the books have tougher practice tests than the real thing, so you should be good.

I just took a sparknotes practice test for US History and got a 540! is sparknotes just harder, or do I have a lot of studying to do? :(

The only sparknotes tests I’ve taken are Math II and those are spot on in terms of accuracy. I know the chem tests is supposed to be harder, and so are other subjects.

I failed Biology. 520!

Some are accurate some aren’t. I tend to do better under pressure and on paper vs computer.

Can you print out the tests? I hate working on computers.

It was chemistry… This kid on the sparknotes board said he got a 630 on one of their tests the night before and ended up getting a 790 on the real exam. Kinda confusing lol.

bump…

Well, there are three reasons for why you might be getting lower scores on the sparknotes tests. First, a lot of tests are just harder than the real thing. Second, the curves are usually harsher than on the real test (3 wrong on the chem isn’t an 800!). Finally, all of the questions from the sparknotes tests are based off of sparknotes prep, meaning that there could be material that sparknotes considers important that others don’t.

How do you print these tests out?
It’s so annoying to do them on the computer

i just got 760, 740, 760 on the tests. I’m aiming for 800 on the real thing which I’m taking in May. I’m kinda discouraged right now. I got around like 9 wrong for each of them. How much harder is the sparknotes than the real thing?

I don’t think it’s too much harder, at least for U.S. History. I took it and got around 770, and I got a 780 for the released CB tests. It’s probably different for all tests, though.

i got 610 in physics on sparknotes, yet 750 on barronsss

yeah i just did awful on the sparknotes test i took! there were a lot of things I had never covered before :(

I crapped out on all of the sparknotes tests. I removed all the schools I was going to send my score reports to. I think only Boston requires them. I’m looking at the low 600s for all of them. That’s definitely not the caliber I was looking for (I was thinking 680+). I am still taking the tests, but probably pointlessly. I’m not sending those scores anywhere if I have As in the classes.

US History: 480 on Barrons, 610 on Sparknotes. Hmmm.

I got a 630 on Kaplan, and 690 on the Sparknotes

When I was practicing for SAT II physics , I practiced with the Sparknotes book. It was discouraging that I was getting around 580s and 600s. Even on the last friday before the June test , I received a 620 ( my highest). My dad was mad but on the real thing i got a 720 and i skipped a $H1T load of questions ( around 15)
