The Spring Before Transferring...

Just a couple of questions regarding the spring semester before transferring. I understand that we need to be enrolled in classes that semester, but I'm wondering if there is a minimum unit requirement. Are we required to be full time students (12 semester units)? It looks like I only need one class (4 units) and if I have any more units I'll fall into the high-unit junior transfer standing, according to this website:

<a href="http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/uc-transfer-maximum-limitation-policy-chart.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/uc-transfer-maximum-limitation-policy-chart.pdf</a></p>

Just to clarify, I applied to transfer this coming Fall 2014 so my question is for this Spring 2014 semester. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks all!

If all your coursework is from CC you will always be a jr level.
There is no min. amount of courses required.

oops wrong thread

Hey bomerr, I’m not sure if we’re talking about the same thing here. You need a minimum of 60 units to transfer to any UC at a junior level. There is also a maximum, according to that website I sited in my first post. But my question is not pertaining to that… my question is about this semester (the semester before transferring this fall). Do we need to be enrolled in a certain amount of units or even enrolled at a CC at all before transferring?

Thanks

You can have 120 units but as long as they are all from CC you will be a jr level transfer. You can only hit the high-unit junior status can only be attained if you have 4-yr universities credits too.

There is no min or max amount of credits you need to take in spring.

Bomerr,

Thanks for the info. Is it true we need to even be enrolled in any classes at all the spring before transferring? Or is this something I misheard?

Also, where did you get the info about the 120 units? Did you by chance check out the link I posted? http://admission.universityofcalifor…licy-chart.pdf

And this one:

If you look at the second link, second page “Limitations on Transfer Credits” it talks about credits from any institution, not just from other UCs or 4-year schools. It also says if you have over a certain number of units it puts you at risk of being denied admissions.

No units from community colleges are considered upper-division for the UCs. Someone with even 150 units, if all taken at a CC, would still transfer as a junior.

There’s no actual requirement but the rule of thumb is to be a full time student [12 semester units]. they may require you to explain why you were not full time. In my TAG for Davis and my contract for UCSD they both required 12 units for the spring semester
