the state is not god

"It’s for the good of the people. The laws might look micro but in fact, the reasoning is much larger. I.e. if cocaine was legal, there would be a massive lower class full of cocaine-induced people, which would suppress them even more. That’s just one tiny reason; there are so many reasons it’s almost endless."

I don't care. It's there decision to make. I don't want my tax dollars going towards cleaning up for stupid people's mistakes.

I understand what you are saying Drew, but do you honestly think that drug-users are going to keep to themselves and not harm anyone?

And I don't think drug-users should be rehabilitated if thats what you meant. That's just a waste of money.

they will be punished if they do so. Our country has placed these drug laws because they suck at enforcing real laws (theft, assault, etc...)

Because it affects you.

I don’t get why you can’t understand that.

"And I don't think drug-users should be rehabilitated if thats what you meant. That's just a waste of money."

I don't think anyone should get any form of rehabilitation (all forms of social welfare). It's their life, if they mess up, it's their fault. I don't want to pay for their mistakes

If legalized, I doubt use of illicit drugs would increase. Is the only thing keeping you from doing coke the legal ramifications. People who use drugs have destructive personalities, if it not snorting a line of coke, they find some other way to hurt themselves.

Yes, but there is nothing police could do to prevent impulse actions by drug users. People that are high don't know what is right or wrong. They could do anything at any time.

yes, but they're getting high right now. legalization will not increase drug use. also, someone isn't going to kill or assault someone JUST because they are high

"If legalized, I doubt use of illicit drugs would increase. Is the only thing keeping you from doing coke the legal ramifications. People who use drugs have destructive personalities, if it not snorting a line of coke, they find some other way to hurt themselves."

ok, i dont feel like debating that. but, it is undoutable that more people would die if it were legalized. so why not have a law saying hey dont do meth. its not as if its a burden on the taxpayer, its equal to $5 a year to save lives.

Okay and that money could be spent on something A LOT more productive thant stopping some loser from doing heroine.

If it were legalized alot more people would be doing it. This is a stupid arguement.

Rules are rules and there is nothing YOU can do to change them. Get over it and stop whining.

While I don't know if I agree with either of your positions, but Jman,
You certainly can change laws...so everyone has every right and intentio to "whine"

"If it were legalized alot more people would be doing it."

way to repeat the same thing over and over, without giving any sort of reason why

Why? Because then people wouldn't have to worry about getting thrown in jail.

Smallz3141, Congress would never change the laws mentioned in this thread.

This congress...you're probably right. but you said you "Can't" change them...which is incorrect.

"Why? Because then people wouldn't have to worry about getting thrown in jail. "

So is that the driving reason why you don't do drugs?

Utopia = wishful thinking and against human nature.

Wishing for utopia is actually very much in human nature: searching for the perfect solution.

...Which is essentially the underlying belief of religion.
"Heaven', "moksha", "enlightenment"... what we seek is the same.
