The swine flu situation

<p>The Spanish flu in 1918-1919 was similar to the swine flu in that it attacked and killed otherwise young and healthy individuals. That is a problem; even though something like 40,000 Americans are killed every year by influenza, they are from the typical “susceptible to illness” demographic of the extremely old, extremely young or extremely unhealthy.</p>

<p>I am a little taken aback by how quickly this has all inflated to “near pandemic,” but if it prevents it from becoming a pandemic I’m more than willing to let them get this done with.</p>

<p>Undecided, I find your argument to be entirely too extreme.</p>

<p>On the contrary, I don’t think it was nearly as extreme as it deserved to be.</p>
