the T

Is it worthwhile buying a MBTA Student Semester Pass ?
thanks

If you're going to be using the T at least twice a day.

DS had a semester pass until MBTA started the Charlie Card. After that, he just got a Charlie Card and put money on it as needed. It is less expensive to do this than to pay for individual fares....and you only pay for what you use.

Depends where you live and where your classes are. If you live in West and your classes are near Kenmore or vice versa then you'll more likely use the T more. Same if you're going to FitRec all the time and you live near Kenmore.

But generally, I agree with thumper. The Charlie Card is really simple to refill. You tap it on the machine at Kenmore and run a credit card through and pick how much you want to add. You can also check your balance.

The semester pass works out to be 11% off the monthly link pass, which is $52.51 a month. But you have to pay 4 months up front.

1 ride with the Charlie Card is $1.70, so if you are riding the T a lot, then it's worth it.

I bought a T pass last year and am doing it again this year. I didnt use it twice a day probably closer to 10 times a week. I really liked the fact that I always had the ability to use the T and didnt have to worry about having the correct change. A charlie card also makes sense to get. But that wasnt for me.

it doesnt make sense to get it. just get a charlie card and put the same amt of money on it as the pass and it will last you a ton longer. I had it first semester last year and barely used it

I have an apartment right down by West Campus. I'm a SHA student but I am doing a minor in SMG so I will be riding across teh entire campus at least twice every day. SO the T pass made sense for me to have. It all depends on how often you will ride it. Most things in BU are within walking distance so unless you will be riding far acorss campus every day then you really don't need it.
