Novak’s yelling at the chair = really poor sportsmanship. And he was wrong on the call.

Murray’s playing very well. His fitness is really shining in this match.

Complainray. We can only hopes he votes yes on the referendum to leave so the British crowd doesn’t have to be disgusting anymore.

Yeah! Novak was gracious in defeat, I have to say.

Well good for Andy and as a long suffering sport mom myself, good for his mother. Novak was gracious especially considering the crowd barely contained its hostility to the idea of his winning a point.

Sad, but Novak did not play well. It was meant to be, I suppose.

Only watched the last few games. If I had known lovely Mohamed was the umpire would have watched the match just for him.

Hurray for Murray! I find it a bit strange that Djokovic was blown out in straight sets, but I’m not complaining.

Loved the entire last week. Thrilled that Serena was eliminated by Lisicki. It was just a shame that she couldn’t produce her best tennis yesterday, but Bartoli deserved the win. I loved seeing them leave the court with their arms around each other. Bryan brothers were delightful. Mens’ semis on Friday were awesome and I loved seeing Murray win today. Seeing the crowd enjoy the moment only added to the excitement for me.

Bartoli and Lisicki are very classy ladies.

Novak did not play well. I have no clue why he was wasting so many opportunities with dropshots with Murray chased 99% of them down. Just not a good match for him, but that is sport.

Serena’s “moments” aside, why do people not like her? You won’t see Radwanska having a conversation with her opponent after losing, which Serena basically does every time. (Lisicki).

It was quite a frustrating Wimbledon for me. Lisicki had to go through a difficult draw. She had to beat Stosur (#14), Williams (#1) and Radwanska (#4). Whereas, the highest ranked player Bartoli beat was Stephens (#17). To win the Wimbledon, Bartoli did not go against a top ten player. Wow.

The same thing happened to the men’s. Nole had to play against Haas (#13), Berdych (#7), and JMDP (#8). Whereas, who was the highest-ranked player Murray had to beat? Youzhny, ranked #20.

That said, I did like it when Lisicki and Bartoli had their arms around each other while walking at some point after the game. And I do agree that indeed, it was a relief not to be subjected to a ladies’ final filled with eardrum-busting shrieks.

Yes, I think the del Potro match in particular took a lot out of Djokovic. I don’t know about the women- Lisicki kind of just mentally collapsed though and Bartoli smartly took advantage. Djokovic was not playing well mentally, either though.

People don’t like Serena because:

 • her outburst in USO SF 2009 which cost her the match against Clijsters - threatening physical violence like that is not okay.
 • her outburst in 2011 F against Stosur
 • her comments about the Steubenville rape victim being ‘lucky’
 • Her game is very ball bashery for some
 • she’s gracious now I would argue only because she faces no major threats. She was very disrespectful to Justine Henin in USO 2007 when Henin destroyed her and Venus.
 • People dislike how she didnt really play on the tour and just showed up for majors

She’s playing in a pretty weak era and most of the majors she wins are handed to her. Often times she does not play well but her opponent is just not good enough to win. Ex: Wimbledon 2012, RG 2013, USO 2012

She was pushed to three sets last year. A-Rad was playing pretty well. And she naturally happens to have the power to ball bash, but I’d argue she STILL has the best shot making abilities anyway.

I enjoyed Wimbledon this year. Although my two favorite players (Djokovic and Sharapova) did not win, I got to appreciate many players that I had not appreciated in the past. Outside of those two players, in the past, I would only root for Tsonga on the men’s side and Ivanovic on the women’s side. But now, I find myself also with new found respect for Murray and Del Potro on the men’s side and Lisicki and Bartoli on the women’s side. Ivan Lendl was my absolute favourite player in the 1980s, so watching him coach Murray to a Wimbledon title (the only major he never won) was very special. And I never took Lendl for the emotional type, but the bear hug Murray gave him after the win warmed my heart plenty. And the women finalists were very classy. Both of them showed their quality last Saturday.

I also should say that while Bartoli may not fit the “standard” definition of beauty, I find her very cute and adorable…and yes, even pretty.

Ashe getting a roof. I still think they should tear it down and build a smaller stadium with a roof.

<a href=“U.S.T.A. to Put a Roof Over Arthur Ashe Stadium - The New York Times”>U.S.T.A. to Put a Roof Over Arthur Ashe Stadium - The New York Times;

I don’t understand it because all these years they’ve said it was impossible. Whatever.

:D for Raonic getting to the final. for Nadal winning.

Anddd Marion Bartoli, 28, retires after winning Wimbledon and losing in round 1 at Cincy. She cites pain being a cause.

Wow. Totally out of the blue, but I guess now that you’ve won Wimby - what else is there to fight for if you hurt so much?

I wish her the best in the rest of her life. Crazy, crazy stuff.

Definitely a shocker but she probably figured the Wimby win was a one off and this way she doesn’t have to hear about how she was a one slam wonder while still active player.

Woke up early this morning and heard about Bartoli’s retirement. Her style of play has always made me crazy, couldn’t stand watching her…she just irritated me. Then they would show her Dad/Coach in the stands…and he was just creepy. Then when the whole “genius” thing happened, she irritated me even more. She finally fires her Dad as coach and she wins Wimbledon! I guess she is just too smart for her own good…she could of hung on through summer and probably made a lot of $$$, although she is smarter than me, so I guess she knows better!!
