The Tennis Thread

After 2nd set, match on!

Of course, I don’t have Tennis Channel.

Sigh.

You didn’t miss anything.

tb was all Murray.

:(

I wound up following in text online, which doesn’t convey much but the score.

That third set had some very nice tennis, apart from the poor holding of serve.

I think both guys need to sit out the next tournament.

I still cannot believe CBS left when they did.

I don’t think there is anything much on their schedules until MC.

I can’t believe they switched channels like that. By the time I figured out what was going on and went to the BBC to follow the text updates, it was all over.

Someone posted a live link to the match at TW so I watched from there, on and off. A lot of the tennis was painful to watch. Ferrer shouldn’t have cramped at the end like that - his team needs to work on his drink formulation so that doesn’t happen again. I think that there’s been a big decrease in that problem in the past ten years because of nutrition.

David rarely cramps - I don’t believe I’ve ever seen it happen to him before and he plays a lot of very long, grueling matches. I think nerves had more to do with it than him not having the correct drink formula. This was a very big match for him.

I loved that the crowd was chanting “whiner” about Murray. He is such a twit.

Really - you loved that? Each to their own I guess. I thought it was disgusting and completely unacceptable. I don’t think it is ever acceptable for an audience, sport or other entertainment, to hurl insults like that. Or anyone for that matter. It is just a form of en masse bullying. Disgusting. They should have been thrown out if they don’t know to behave any better than that at a tennis match (and would be at many tennis tournaments).

What are you talking about?

I can’t believe that CBS cut out just before the tie breaker. Do they cut out for any other sport like that? Another 10 minutes would have been too much? If they can’t broadcast the whole match, let another network willing to broadcast it to the end have the rights.

I had very bad reception on only one camera for the match, the overhead camera used for most of the play. It would go all pixelated on me. It wasn’t my cable. It wasn’t any of the other cameras for the match.

“What are you talking about?”

She is talking about the crowd chanting whiner at Murray.

Yes, I approved. He is the worst whiner on tour. He needs to stop doing that already.

Tatin, no they wouldn’t think of doing for any other sport.

I think I’ve already said how much I hate Murray

I’ve seen Andy Murray off the court at Indian Wells. Coming out of the locker room onto the soccer field where they do warm-up exercises, he’s not surrounded by an entourage and he always stops to sign autographs for the kids.

They’re all great people off-court. It’s on court where he reveals his true nature.

Anyway, tomorrow 4/6 at 1 PM in Charleston, Venus and Serena are playing each other in the semifinals ejkfdbsudkfbj! It probably won’t be on TV, so I’ll be finding a stream.

Some of them aren’t so nice off court and how they act around fans at tourney’s isn’t what they are really like either. I have stayed at numerous player hotels and seen up close and personal what a lot of them are really like.

CHIHSIS, Charleston has been on ESPN2 this week so I think it’ll be on today (though I don’t know if it’ll be live or tape delayed.)

I’ve been forgetting to update you guys on my lessons. They’re free and only once a week but I love them. Basically all we do is hit forehands and backhands because we can’t get them right xD

Personally, it seems that my backhand is beautiful. I hit it cleanly every time and it lands in or at least very close to being in. The way I hit it makes it so the ball just clears the net instead of flying over. My forehand, however, sucks. Every time I hit it the teacher says I turn my wrist (which I do feel) resulting in the ball flying out of the fence or hitting the bottom of the net, and I turn my shoulders as I swing so the ball goes out to the left instead of in the court.

But there are moments of greatness in both shots I think :P

I can’t wait to play tennis or practice on a regular basis in college though because I have so much fun.

Watching R16 at MC. Most interesting match so far Murray vs Wawrinka. Stan’s got the power!

Well, then, emilybee, dish it up. Is Roger not the nice family man he seems? Does Rafa act likea spoiled brat? What?

I’m enjoying the Wawrinka - Tsonga match right now. Wawrinka gives some of the top guys trouble - I wonder if he gets hints from Fed.
