I just want to say, and I know all of you agree with me, but a big thank you to soozie and everything she's done for all of us. I know there is not a single person out there who has not been helped by her incredible amount of information. So I figured we could all just make a thread where we say thank you to soozie. so here goes

thank you so much for all your information regarding nyu, the auditions, and everything. you really helped me be confident as to what I knew I was going up against before I went there, and I appreciate it greatly.

Thank you for all the thoughtful, lengthy and detailed info provided to us,
and the wonderful examples of your daughter and all that YOU have learned through her and shared with us, and all WE have learned through her.

You are such an invaluable resource, and the amount of time you give us, we are so lucky to have you!

My students, parents and myself are most thankful,

I put a Thank You on another thread - but might as well chime in here too!

You have been a wealth of information about this process - and now I bet we will actually get to meet face to face someday - and all because of the Musical Theatre Thread on CC and CAP 21!

Cyberspace has never felt so close and supportive as this 'group' has. And Susan - you have been one of the most helpful.

Wow, I don't know what to say. I came to the CC forums 3 1/2 years ago as our thoughts first turned to college for my oldest daughter, who was then starting her junior year in HS and is now half way done soph year at Brown. I learned SO much from other parents and students on the forums! Invaluable. Can't be found anywhere else. While my focus was on reading and participating on forums related to her process, I kept reading the then LONG thread on Colleges For Musical Theater (did not have its own forum) because I knew that was down the line for me with my second daughter, though she was just a ninth grader at the time. Little did I know that midway through tenth grade, we'd be in her process full force too (before even knowing the admissions results of D1!) as she wanted to graduate a year early. Again, I learned SO much from the very helpful people with loads of insights on this specialized admissions process.

As most of you know, along the way, I trained to become a college counselor at CC and advise students in the regular admissions process but also in the theater admissions process. I continue to learn lots from everyone else AND about all the wonderful programs out there. I still enjoy participating and sharing as a parent on here, even if I do work as a counselor off the forum. When I try to answer questions, it is partly due to giving back because I was in that position at one time and learned from those who went before us in this process. I hope you guys this year will pass it onto next year's students and parents. I also enjoy helping where I can and hope that answers to questions or just sharing can help a wide variety of people in a general sort of fashion and that anyone who wants specific assistance on an ongoing basis with their college selection or admissions process, can contact me for more individualized counseling.

Believe me, I have learned as much from lots of you as you seem to think I have assisted you.

In any case, I particularly find this forum to be a sort of "support" group for those who are immersed in this field and/or process as it is rather specialized and so it is fun and helpful to share amongst others who are also involved as it is not as if my local community is. This has become a community of sorts and I have come to know a lot of you over time and in emails and even have met in person. It would be so cool if we had one big MT Forum CC fest.....but I figure lots of our kids will connect down the line if they pursue this field and many paths are bound to cross. The theater world is not THAT big

Thanks guys. I'm up way too late but was working with students who got going on their college processes very late in the game (not like my fellow forum friends!), and we are about to go away and I won't be online. If I don't connect with you before I leave, have a very joyous holiday season....some of you have lots to celebrate but the rest of you, I'm sure this New Year will bring happy news eventually.
Best wishes this holiday season....

Susan

(Chris, I never had a son......you sound like one from heaven!)

Susan, I will add my thanks here, too. My D2 came to CC before I did and she always spoke very kindly of you and how helpful you were on the forums. You're right when you say that the theatre world is small and many of the kids here will cross paths in the years to come. This forum is such a supportive community and we all want the best for all of the kids who post here. Each disappointment is like one which our own kids suffer but I like to think that if each of us shoulders a bit of each disappointing admission result for the kids here, then it will be a slightly lighter burden for them to bear. Sharing in their successes and good news is such a treat. Those of us who have been through it in previous years remember that wonderful feeling when the acceptance letter comes. It's been a pleasure reading of so much good news here on CC in the past couple of weeks. You've been very helpful to a lot of these kids, Susan, and you should be proud!

I hope you and your H have some good family time over the holidays and a chance to enjoy your two wonderful Ds. Mine are all at home now and it's such a treat to have a full house again!

Uh, guys, you are embarrassing me. Truly there are LOTS of helpful people on the forum. I"ve learned more than I've given for sure.

AlwaysAMom....you are a WEALTH of knowledge about this field! As well, it really helps to get to know a parent of another student in my child's school, in fact, an older one who is on the "next step". Your daughter, in fact, when I first would read the MT threads, was someone who not only knew lots about this but about one of my D's favorite schools before we even BEGAN to look at colleges for HER (as I mentioned, I'd read the MT thread only cause I knew I had a kid who eventually would be doing this in college but I was more focused on my older non MT major kid's college process at the time). Your D shared so much about Tisch and I miss having her here though she has more important things now to do with her time. I do hope my D meets her while at NYU as they do share many similar interests or traits.

So, here's to ALL the moms, dads, college students, high schoolers, and college reps who have helped me but also been people who have shared experiences and friendship and been a really GREAT MT community here. I'm honored to know you all and hope to meet more of you at some point.

I too would like to thank SoozieVT. While we met on the CC board, we had some peripheral connection through the camp program our children attended (Stagedoor Manor) and while my S ultimately decided he didn't want to go the MT, BFA route, he has been involved in theater his whole life and wanted a college with a strong academic program which gives him opportunities to pursue theater-extracurricularly. After much decision, he decided to apply to Brown ED. With help and much info from Susan (having 2 daughters, one at Brown and one pursuing MT), we hired Susan to help with my S's essay. She was extremely professional and very helpful. Within a week-10 days, they produced a great essay, going back and forth several times to fine tune it. I am not sure if the essay was the thing that got him in (I would like to think it was alot of factors lol), but yes, he was accepted to Brown ED. We are all so thrilled. He is looking forward to meeting Susan's D and has already contacted some of the people involved in some of the clubs etc that he may want to join in. He doesn't know what exactly he wants to study, perhaps he will go into the entertainment industry, but reading the threads on this site as well as the Brown site, really helped to solidify his desire to be there. All the people on this site have been helpful but we would like to give a shout out to Susan for all her help and guidance. Have a wonderful holiday!!!

Haha, sorry to embarrass you, but thank you for all the very kind, supportive comments you've sent my way over the last couple of months. I really appreciate the good will! :)
