Someone want to explain to me the whole terrorist muslim connection?
You know what, I really don't know what to say anymore. Majority of Muslims are not terrorists, unfortunately, there are a bunch of psychos out there that like to blow up buildings while screaming "Allahu Akbar" which really doesn't make a great impression and only makes it harder for the rest of us - you know, the normal Muslims who are against all of this. I don't understand it anymore than you. I cannot for the life of me figure out who they think they're helping.

I saw somewhere earlier in the thread some quotes from the Quran endorsing violence against non-believers?

So according to Islam, what happens to non-believers?
Those quotes didn't look like anything I've ever seen in the Quran, I'll go back and look at them and give you a better answer later, since I don't really have the time at the moment.

According to Islam, nothing happens to the nonbelievers. Muslims aren't supposed to go out and "kill the infidels" or anything. Muslims aren't supposed to kill anyone. The nonbelievers should go around doing their thing, and the Muslims should do their best to tell them the message of Islam in a polite, noninvasive way. Like, if the nonbeliever has a question, the Muslim should answer it. Aggression and violence shouldn't be used. If someone's a different religion, so be it.

How come I don't hear more Muslims speak out against terrorism?
I don't know. I know for a fact that majority of Muslims are against it, but as someone (I believe it was Jesminder) said in a different thread, violence makes a good news story. People sitting around happily and singing Kumbaya doesn't. I'm not saying this is the fault of the media, they're just doing their job. Here's a site you might want to check out, lots of Muslims speaking out against terrorism: www.cair-net.org

This link might especially interest you: http://www.cair-net.org/default.asp?Page=articleView&id=169&theType=AA

Terrorism is stupid. Now you've heard one more Muslim speak out against it.

Why do so many muslim leaders support or don't speak out against suicide bombers and terrorists?
See above. I understand that you don't really see a lot of leaders speaking out against terrorism, but only a very vocal minority support it. Terrorism is absolutely forbidden in Islam, and anyone supporting it has a major problem.

Honest to god, I want to understand these things. You can tell right now where I stand, but it's because no Muslim has stepped forward to reach out and teach people Islam. All we see is Islam and terror on TV.

Ask any questions you have about Islam, I'll be more than happy to answer. I can't blame you for thinking Islam is a religion of terror, which IT IS NOT. I want to be able to explain it, but I don't think words can possibly convey how I feel. A bunch of stupid terrorists go out and commit disgusting violent acts, then the media covers it, and everyone percieves Muslims as terrorists. Then, I get to experience the backlash as I go about my daily life; because half the nation thinks I'm oppressed or violent or going to kill them, just because I'm Muslim.

I'm rambling. I apologize, I'm just kind of sick of everything right now. If you want any clarification of anything or have any more questions, just ask. I'd like to be able to go out and know that one less person has assumed I'm dangerous.

sydney,

How come suicide bombers who blow up busses in Israel read passages of the Quran before they blow themselves up?

How come Osamah quotes the Quran in his videos?

Do you think that presidents/leaders of Middle Eastern Arab Countires should do more to speak out against Terror? What about the funding of terror by said Arab states?

Is there a hell in Islam?

Why are suicide bombers so convinced of Paradise when they kill other people? What about the whole virgin thing? Is any of this actually written about in the Quran?

Does the Quran support the idea of "an eye for an eye"?

I think terrorism is ethically and morally corrupt, but it's certainly not stupid. It does achieve its desired aim, for better or for worse.

Yeah, I'd like to have answers to that as well. I'm not eating until I do.

"Hahaha I gotta try that sometime. Maybe accidentally drop a copy of Playboy in front of them."

OMG! I can't help but find that one funny. Missionaries aren't allowed to date while on their missions, and when they come back and come here to BYU they are still freaked out about us girls!!! It takes them a little while to adjust back into the real world. We have fun with it. I think it would be so funny to see what they would do if you did that!

Sydney: Many Muslims speak out against terrorism, but the terrorist sympathizers at CAIR aren't the people you want to be quoting if you want to be seen as anti-terror.

Los Angeles (10/28/98) - CAIR is calling on Los Angeles-based KCOP Television, Inc., channel 13, to remove billboards deemed offensive to Muslims. The billboards, reportedly seen in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Gabriel, and other cities, feature a picture of Usama Bin Laden with the headline "the sworn enemy

*The same year, CAIR denied bin Laden's responsibility for the twin East African embassy bombings. *

In 2001, CAIR denied his culpability for the Sept. 11 massacre, saying only that "if [note the "if"] Osama bin Laden was behind it, we condemn him by name." (Only in December was CAIR finally embarrassed into acknowledging his role.)

CAIR consistently defends other militant Islamic terrorists too. The conviction of the perpetrators of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing it deemed "a travesty of justice." The conviction of Omar Abdel Rahman, the blind sheikh who planned to blow up New York City landmarks, it called a "hate crime." The extradition order for suspected Hamas terrorist Mousa Abu Marook it labeled "anti-Islamic" and "anti-American."

When President Bush closed the Holy Land Foundation in December for collecting money he said was "used to support the Hamas terror organization," CAIR decried his action as "unjust" and "disturbing."
