Appolonius of Tyana, for example, did similar things as Jesus did, and he had disciples, and he was crucified. Jesus was just one of many nuts who arose during this time period. The problem is, people were (and still are), gullible, and take 'miracles' and 'Christian morality' seriously.</p>

<p>I don't know how much longer this debate--now infiltrating many threads on this forum--needs to go on before people realize that most systems of belief are beautiful at times, and flawed at others. </p>
<p>This is a non-religious example, but it is based on a system of belief/thought the same way religion is:</p>
<p>The philosophes of the french revolution imagined themselves a perfect world; a utopia. Ideal. What did they get? The reign of terror. </p>
<p>Someone mentioned the crusades, which were indeed horrible. But let's travel back in time to a period less remote than that of the crusades: the 20th century. The greatest horrors and murders were committed by Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot; Secularists too the core. Millions of people dead by their hands. How many people have died in total because of religious wars? I'm not trying to bash secular-atheism as much as to show that secularism is not the perfect antithesis to religion as people are wont to believe. </p>
<p>No ideology in and of itself is a sufficient explanation of reality, after all. I don't see deeply religious (strong-willed) or sincerely questioning (w1cked, bobbobbob...) people on these threads as much as I see people who are not willing to step out of a limiting ideology that cripples thought, their's and other's. </p>
<p>My point is that all things in life have their good and bad. No one is completely right, but no one is completely wrong either. </p>

Islam is the religion that has the largest group prayer and international unity. Islam will topple Christianity withing 30 years, statistics suggest. Islam is only religion that actually has unity.
