The Third Subject Test

Tomorow I will be taking 3 subject tests, 2 of which I have studied for and am the most familiar for. But with my counselor's suggestion, I have also signed for the SAT Lit with no prior knowledge of the test. The only thing that I have done related to the test is take AP Lang last year. I wanted to know if I do badly on the lit test, will it count against me in the admissions process? Or will the adcoms only take into account the top two of my tests. (I'm applying to mostly UC's and cal states)

I am not going to be applying to colleges that require 3 sat subject tests.

i think my friend told me that if you dont take one of the test they dont send score of the test you didnt take.
but not really sure about that

Yea well your friend was right. The problem here though is I dont mind taking the lit sat, but I just dont want it to have an adverse effect on my over all application when I will already have two other SAT's.

Just don't take Lit. Why take chances?

If i find out it doesnt hurt me, why shouldn't I take it?
Can anyone give a sure answer here?

Well, you have to weigh how good you are at literature. If you took AP Language with a good teacher, that's good then. I went in last time with no prior knowledge of how the test was like (seriously, I hadn't even seen one before) and I got a 690. Which is bad, but for someone who didn't ever prepare....well, w/e.

What you have to decide is whether you're good at interpreting passages. If you think you can do decently (700+), sure, why not. If not, just take two tests, walk out of there because if you get a bad score, colleges WILL look at it as something negative, no matter if they require 2 or 3 or however many subject tests.

Depends on major a bit. But how bad are we talking? 400-500, it will have a pretty big negative effect, and in that case you should retake it. If you get 650+, it's fine.
