Take a look at Emerson. It is in Boston, and my DS loved it when he visited this fall. He is also looking at USC, LMU, Chapman-Dodge, UT-Austin, NYU and Ohio. Have you considered Drexel in Philadelphia? Or UNCSCA (North Carolina), and some of the smaller California state schools? They all have well respected programs.

The only schools that really matter are NYU, UCLA and USC. The rest can all just be ranked according to undergraduate ranking.

I grew up in LA and have lived in Hollywood for the past 6 years, this is my list…

1) USC
2) UCLA
3) NYU

gap

4) Loyola Marymount
5) Chapman

gap

6) Cal State Northridge
7) Cal State Long Beach
8) Cal State Fullerton

Besides UCLA, the other UC’s don’t make the list since they’re all theory based with little to no production.

My son is a freshman at Emerson. He is majoring in TV Production. The school is amazing and he is excelling. Even though I will never retire because it is so expensive, it is one of the best communications schools in the country…and who wouldn’t love to live on Boylston St?

NYU

UCLA

USC

Florida State

Loyola Marymount

Chapman

Emerson

Those are the only ones worth going to

UT Austin is stronger than Loyola Marymount and Chapman.

The film program at NC School of the Arts is in real danger of being shut down because of budget cuts.
