The truth behind interviews

here is my theory,
i think every applicant knows the box with the “optional” race check, i think that if you do not check off the race and change your last name to Espanodo or Roberts, then you’d probably be alright in the “less competitive” stack, but if you put Lee or Zhang or Mohammed you’ll be put in the “competitive” stack
and if you don’t write anything, then you’ll probably get an interview, so that the interviewer can verify your race and put you in the piles accordingly.

<p>That's just silly. I checked off "white" or "caucasian" on my apps and I have a very anglo-sounding last name. I got interviews for most of the schools I applied to that offer them. Also, there is no "more competitive" or "less competitive stack".</p>

<p>many people who check the race box get interviews, i had two.</p>

<p>uh huh, i guess i am wrong then, sorry</p>

<p>lol. that's okay. i come up with my own odd theories as well. i once thought inanimate objects were universes with little creaters in them. really, i thought that. it is hard to explain, but it was crazy. i called it "the milk carton theory"</p>

<p>Ah crap, I guess they'll find out that im not, African American :(</p>

<p>kinglin i hope you are joking</p>

<p>That's probably true...interviews usually do allow the college to know about the candidate's racial background.</p>

<p>but what's the point of that?</p>

<p>Yes, im joking maharani :) I haven't even applied for colleges yet.</p>
