The Truth... SAT Needed???

I live in the midwest, and I prefer the ACT to the SAT by far. I have scored well on it in the past. Now I want to know... if colleges accept both the ACT and/ or the SAT with two SAT II's, is there any advantage to taking both?

I don't know if taking the SAT is worth it, but some people have told me colleges want you to take both of them. What is the truth?

Well the main advantage I can see to taking both is that you may score significantly higher on one compared to the other. My SAT scores compared to my ACT scores are a few hundred points lower. But since I live on the east coast, less people take the ACT so I wasn't sure if it was worth my time. But boy was I happy that I did do the ACT's. So yeah, taking both would probably be an advantage mainly to see if you do better on one compared to the other. However, it also depends where you're applying. I'm not positive, but I've heard east coast schools prefer SAT's.

If you're doing well on the ACT, there is absolutely no need to take the SAT, as most colleges will just convert your ACT score to a SAT score, anyways. However, if you're unhappy with your ACT score, or feel you could do better, you can always try the SAT. Just note that if you do take the SAT, you can't hide it, as you can with the ACT. (if you send your SAT scores for subject tests in, they'll see the SAT I score as well).
