the typcial dilemma

i am in situation as many CCers are. the problem is money. yea....in state schools = free/inexpensive....but the urge to get out of ur state is just irresistible. For example... i got into georgia tech...and its all for FREE because of hope scholarship....on the other hand...i got into michigan and ucla which both sounds like a new attractive experience. i know many of you will probably suggest to go to the in state school....but its hard to resist....umich and ucla.

and besides....gt.... number one place where you cant get a college experience...

i want to hear other peoples comments on this situation. thank you =D

If you want to do engineering, then yes i would go to georgia tech.

Two years ago #1 son was in same position - was accepted at OSU and they were offering everything but meals. Great school, ranked fairly highly in his chosen field. But then there was his dream school - where he really felt at home - University of Mi. Based on several visits to both, he was ok with OSU but never felt that draw that he felt at UM. We did alot of number crunching and what if scenarios. He chose UM. The trade off for him is there is basically no money left for grad school from me - and he will come out with 20k in debt. He was totally good with that.

GTech is just as good as UM and UCLA for engineering. Same tier.

I would just stay in state.

College is going to be a new and exciting experience no matter where you go. Universities get more expensive each year. Don't put yourself into debt when you can have an excellent and productive 4 years at GT. (Who says there's no college experience? You still have D1 sports, parties, and the city of Atlanta.)

Plus, Atlanta has one of the best job markets in the country right now.

EDIT: This post may be worth looking at: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/478965-costs-consider-when-choosing.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/478965-costs-consider-when-choosing.html</a></p>

in this case...would i not be able to go to grad school? this is really getting on my nerves....

Grad school is expensive...
