<p>Well, you can start by using proper grammar. It should be: I wish I WERE as smart as you guys. I mean, I don’t usually correct people, but since everyone here is all about demeaning people who are probably still very intelligent, I might as well :)</p>

<p>Yeah, yeah, big deal. I taught my cat how to speak, read and write French. Now THAT’s an accomplishment.</p>

<p>Actually, in modern English both “I wish I were” and “I wish I was” are grammatically correct.</p>
