The Union Scholars Programme?

Hi guys! Today I got an e-mail and the invitation to the Scholars' Days. I'm an international student and I absolutely didn't expect to get in as a scholar. I even didn't know what was that before today's email.

I've read that app. 50 people each year are selected for the programme? I guess it must be pretty prestigious to be among the top 2%?

Except official info I've read on their website, is there anything you can tell me about the Programme? How difficult it is, is it really that prestigious since I'm an international student and what actually does it mean in practice?

Every help is welcome.

Thx and good luck to every1 whos still waiting!

Anyone?

My daughter is a Union Scholar. It’s a very nice program, absolutely no downside we can see. The gist of the program is that there are additional “seminar type” requirements each year, and you also have the opportunity to take an extra class each term. The bottom line is that Scholars are offered an annual merit scholarship that you keep even if you don’t remain a scholar, as long as you are a student in good standing (I think a 2.5 GPA but it may actually be as low as 2.0). To remain in the Scholars program you must maintain, I believe, a 3.2 GPA. My daughter loves being in the Scholars program as it’s special and the additional requirements/classes are things she enjoys.

Hope that helps!

Tnx.

I’ve just received fin aid and it is way bigger than my EFC. What to do now? :S

What does this mean? We can chose a residence hall or?

Residence Life
Union Scholars do not share a residence hall; instead, Union’s Residence Life Office matches students based on study habits, lifestyles, and residence hall preferences. There are a variety of living options available at Union, and Scholars are welcome to take advantage of all of them.

^That means that you are not required to share a dorm with other Union scholars and you will not be matched with other Union scholars in your dorm because you are one.

luluzg, you can give me some  lol, i need it =(

Tnx!

Oh I misspelled something! Their FA is way LOWER than my EFC and no way we could possibly finance it if the revision doesn’t work out.

“^That means that you are not required to share a dorm with other Union scholars and you will not be matched with other Union scholars in your dorm because you are one.”

I don’t want to seem rude but it’s not like I care if other scholars are in the same dorm as I am. What’s the big deal?

hey!!! i was accepted to the scholars program too!

The scholars program is a fair amount of extra work, but it provides an extra challenge for those who desire it. The scholars program also takes students in the program to Canada for a weekend. My friends who went on it had a blast. They really enjoyed bonding with the other scholars and experiencing Montreal.
