the university of montreal

hey! i was wondering if anyone knows anything about the university of montreal.
i'm american and cant seem to find anything about admission requirements for americans. i want to apply to international studies there. does anyone know how competitive admissions is there? or anything about it in general? i've already heard of the transition year non-quebec students have to do, but im still confused on whether you have to reapply for a program after that... :/
is it a pretty "respected" university? kids there have fun? anything? haha thanks!

It is a Francophone school. Do you speak French fluently? The students in Quebec do CEGEP after 11th grade- it's 12th grade and 1st year university. Most schools- not sure about U MTL- take students who are outside Quebec, and they start at a "-1" year before proceeding to year 1 of university. For more info on Canadian universities- check out McLeans, or www.aucc.ca/can_uni/index_e.html. There is also a useful book on Canadian universities for US students (check out Amazon).

EDIT: Okay, so I can't type accents into these posts! Which is annoying for French!

Anyways, look into McGill or Concordia. Both are Anglophone, and McGill is a good school.

i speak french, so no problem there. i was wondering more on just like, the quality in general, it's a well respected school, right? the international studies course list is enormous and has everything i'm looking for which is mostly why i'm interested in it.
is there a kind of like, theu.com or cc for canada anywhere?

Check out: theglobeandmail.com/reportcard for ratings and info on Canadian schools. Other sites: forums.studentawards.com and vault.com which lists both US and int'l schools (go to education, undergrad etc).

go to McGILL!!!

It's a huge school (50K+ students), and a number of people I know would not recommend it, but none were in International studies.
