The University of Texas Class of 2020 Decisions Thread

Is CS a hard major to get into? One of my friends is applying for it as well. Anyone know if entry level biology is super hard to get into?

S applied for CS. 35 ACT and good ECs but bad class rank. OOS. Not very optimistic but it’s worth a shot. Good luck!

@dboss4 My D was accepted into Biology with a 28 ACT, 1840 SAT (700 math) but class rank was high, < 2%, and very stellar extras. Class rank seems to be key.

@CollegeMama987

Im going for entry level biology in CNS. My stats are:

1960 SAT (higher than CNS average for last year, and possibly this year assuming averages havent changed).
Top 9.3% (when i applied)
Good Extracurriculars
Leadership Outside of school (ex. as a teacher at my temple)
2 Solid Essays

How do you think my stats hold up taking into account the competitiveness of getting into CNS? I hear for cns, getting in isnt too difficult compared to cockrell or McCombs for instance.

Cheers!

Guys… to be honest, it is meaningless to post “chance me” at this point. You are going to find out everything in less than 24 hours anyway. Just ease yourself and chill!! Y’all have good stats, and hopefully everyone who worked hard gets the admission!

They said we will found out on the weekend, not tomorrow. Im so anxoius lol someone chance me please!!! Honestly!!!

@dboss4 where did you see that? the latest tweet said BY the weekend-

Does that mean Friday?? Cause "by the weekend could mean by sunday also right?? Also, if we do find out tomorrow, what time do you think we’ll find out?? I really want admission!!!

The admission office is closed on the weekend so I’m pretty sure it will be tomorrow. They said on Twitter that they are still on track to have them out by the weekend

Now im worried… Hopefully i get into biology with my stats

@dboss4 You have got to chill out. You are going to explode and then you won’t be around to find out your admissions status. No one knows what time any decisions will come out. If anyone knew, it would be posted. The major you want is competitive. How you stack up to everyone else who applied is an unknown variable. If anyone on this thread knew your chances, they would have told you.
From what I read on twitter the other day, all decisions will be released at once, but the servers can only release so many at a time, so my guess is that people’s admissions status will change throughout the day, rather than like a mass email in the inbox.
Hang on, hold tight and you will know soon.

@dboss4 I don’t know much about how they make their decisions but class rank does seem very important. If you are in top 10% with above average SAT’s, I would think you have a good chance! Good luck and hang in there!

Anyone applying to college of education? I will be applying next year so I want to compare my stats.

I’m so nervous!! Can’t believe there’s only less than one day until we find out. I wish I had a class rank (homeschooled) since it sounds like it’s important to ut austin D:

Goodnight, everyone and good luck.

I’m pretty sure today will be the day! Good luck everyone. I’m so anxious and the hours go by too slowly

Anyone know what time today? GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL

According to their Twitter they said by midnight.

Someone asked on Twitter this morning and they said “We aren’t at work yet.” Someone asked about health science scholars and they said all freshman decisions should be complete this weekend- which is not by the weekend, so I am not sure everyone will hear everything today. In December, my S woke up and it was there. He got an email that afternoon. Others saw it later in the day so it may be a computer processing issue or just a matter of when you log in and look.

I will not be surprised if MyStatus gets flooded today. On the A&M forum people have been complaining about not being able to log in for short periods.

@rawells14 I have not seen anything on UT Admissions twitter that anything is by midnight tonight. Where did you see that?

I posted this in the 2016 applicants thread.
Good luck today-Sunday to everyone. I just read on the UT Admissions twitter that so far, today is not guaranteed.

That said, I also read earlier on their twitter feed that decisions will be released all at one time (for domestic freshmen) The servers cannot handle sending them out simultaneously and therefore, send them out in batches. Do not panic over the course of the day/weekend if others have heard and you have not. You are not CAP/PACE/Wait listed or denied unless you see it on your status page. It seems this was not explained last year and it caused much anxiety for folks, seeing a lot of people getting decisions and others still in review.
