The University of Texas Class of 2020 Decisions Thread

@dansaustin
Did your daughter do all 3 essays and submit 2 recommendations? Biomedical is very small so it probably filled quickly… if she really wants to go I think you should appeal, because her being denied seems very strange.

CAP’d for BME
Asian/White non auto admit
32 ACT
10% class rank
Many EC’s and personally I thought my essays were great
11 AP classes taken and never received a B

@Baylorpoly I was accepted for biology about a month ago, but i’d trade Baylor in a heartbeat for Austin.

If I accept CAP, am I still considered a UT Austin student kinda? do I reserve the right to say I got in? am I still UT20? I am confused on the classification that is the CAP program. What does it make us?

@JTUni20 when you checked your decision did they say they can’t offer you permission at this time?

@JTUni20 they followed that with an explanation

@JTUni20. Baylor will work hopefully for you

TX resident here, D16 did not apply to any TX schools. She is top 18% so we figured UT would be nothing but a pipe dream, but we have been following this thread out of curiosity. First, Congrats to all who were accepted and from what I am reading it is definitely UT’s (and the state of Texas) loss for all those denied.

I am looking at @dansmoaustin 's D’s stats and thinking what the heck UT? Why wouldn’t we, as a state, want to keep her here instead of losing her to a great school like UVa (which would be my pick  ) The whole admissions process is crazy and TX is the engine at the head of the crazy train.

Longhorns blew it

@Baylorpoly - Indeed.

Son accepted for CS today
In-state not auto admit, GPA 3.4 (terrible sophomore year)
SAT 2240 (M 800), 11 AP classes, NMS Semi-Finalist
Average EC, Good essays - explained sophomore blip

Auto admit rejected from Cockrell. Really put down right now; UT Engineering has always been my goal for a while. Can only blame myself. :
I still really really want to go to UT but I need a gameplan.

Accepted to McCombs - Top 6% 2070 (760 M), 32 (35 E), solid essays, good ECs, 1 great rec, lots of APs but quite a few b’s, ~3.7 UW/4.3 W.
Waiting to hear back from Northwestern, NYU, Vandy, and Boston College…
Not exactly an expert on how these schools compare, can someone rank their business programs for me?

Oh and NMS Commended/LOTS of community service

“Baylorpoly” and a lack of reference to other schools’ programs leads me to believe you are heavily biased. If not, please provide an explanation for your statement.

Furthermore, Stern is 100000x better than UT in business; this is an undeniable fact…

Got into Aerospace Engineering!!

Stats:
GPA: weighted 4.277 at time of application
Rank: 11/667, Top 1.6% (got auto admitted due to this)
ACT: 33 (math was trash, 31 ;_____;, writing/reading (the other one to calculate the academic index) was 34)
APs: 5 AB Cal, US Government, Macroeconomics, English Comp, and a 4 on World History
Hispanic Merit Scholar
Essays: Topic B was really good according to my English teacher, Topic C was acceptable
Teacher Recs: Submitted two from my English teacher and Calculus teacher

Also waiting on Cornell; forgot about them lol.
Add them to any comparisons you helpful people make for me, please.

Thanks.

Stern is a great school, but by taking on that much debt, you are going to jeopardize your ability to get an MBA, which goes a lot farther than a bachelors. Taking out 40 or 50k would be manageable but 150k is not.

Any comments on Cornell, Vandy, NW, or BC?

Probably will only get into BC of those XD but any input is appreciated
