The University received 38,640 applications for the Class of 2023 — the most in its history, according to Dean of Admission Logan Powell. The applicant pool increased by approximately 9 percent from last year’s applicant pool of 35,438 students.

The 46 transfer students and two visiting students, who are scheduled to start classes on Wednesday, Jan. 23, come to College Hill from universities across the country and world. Some of the institutions represented include Brandeis University, Colorado College, National Taiwan University, Princeton University, the University of Pittsburgh and Vassar College, among many others.

You could also compare the applicant profile with the graduation data at Degrees and Completions Factbook (https://www.brown.edu/about/administration/institutional-research/factbook/degrees-and-completions). Some obvious facts from the data:

[]It is much more difficult for Asian applicants to get in.
[]It is probably easier for Humanities/Social Sciences oriented applicants to get in.
[]The female/male applicant ratio is unbalanced but the ratio in the student population is relatively balanced.
[li]The 2018 Survey of Satisfaction with First-Year Experience (https://www.brown.edu/about/administration/institutional-research/surveys/first-year-survey) still shows 96% satisfaction rate. [/li][/ol]
