<p>They take the top 500 (and more for that all-important 100-way tie at the cut-off), so then again the cut-off might stay the same.</p>
<p>Don’t they take top 500 OR top 10%? Do they take which of the two is greater or something? </p>
<p>I liked the test…didn’t guess on 43 of them (and I know I got some of my guesses right) but knowing me I did something stupid on like ten of those, so for raw score I’m guessing 33. It seemed like there were more lab set-up questions this year which was a time issue for me, but other than that it was cool.</p>

<p>Obviously not, since last year there were 574 semi-finalists out of 6000+ open exam writers.</p>

<p>actually there were 602 semifinalists last year. </p>
<p>And there were around 10,000 students who registered to take the test though I believe only around 9000 actually took it.</p>
<p>So my stats were from 2006 then.</p>

<p>5376 students took the test</p>
<p>score range: 3 - 43</p>
<p>semi-finalists cutoff score: 30</p>

<p>Is it just me, or did last year’s questions seem a lot more… uniform in difficulty? This year’s questions ranged wildly from ridiculously easy to barely understandable. I remember a few questions that didn’t require any bio class to answer, and a few that I read several times but understood nothing but the articles “the”, “and”, and “is” D:</p>
