<p>haha i have like no other work. lots of EC stuff tho after school. I just read campbell’s whenever i can. like last week i memorized all the amino acids (structure and properties). it was pretty quick, and could be useful on the semi exam.</p>
<p>Amino acid structures are definitely good to memorize, especially because questions on the semifinal exams seem to be so oddly specific.</p>
<p>Does anyone know where to find practice for semifinals?</p>

<p>Well there is no practical part, so that makes studying easy. Theres a practical section when u get to finals I believe. No idea what that entails, as I didn’t made it past the semifinal round.</p>
<p>The practical section has historically involved beheadings, vomiting and fire. Lots of fire.</p>

<p>Last year it was 101 for finals. There was someone at my school who had a 99, he was so close!</p>

<p>Well last year, the max # of points on the semifinal exam was 159. The highest anyone in the country scored was 127.The cutoff for going to the final round was 101. The national mean was 70.98.</p>
<p>I think one of the main reaons that the max points was 159 and the highest was 127 was probably because of that last question on the short answer section about life tables. Apparently, noone had ANY idea what to do with it.</p>
<p>Haha yea I remember that free response. The first page was genetics, the subject I knew best, and I was like sweet this is gonna be so easy! Then I got to the next page and it was all on plants and I was like uhh plants… So I only did so so on that page. Then I get to the last page and I’m like … and I left that whole page blank. So yea I hope this year will be better (assuming I make it past the first round).</p>
<p>Yeah…seriously. That sounded like me last year. I rocked the genetics section. Did meh on the plants section. And totally went O_O on the life tables. I did make an educated guess in filling the table out though. XD</p>
<p>Could someone please tell me what this test is about? My guidence counselor is no help and I want to take this test if it will help me get into college.</p>

<p>Well its the USA Biology Olympiad. Its about biology. Read Campbell and Reece’s Biology to get an idea of the material on it (the test is based off that book). You’ve already missed your chance to take it this year, so you’re gonna have to wait until next February if you want to take it.</p>
