The UT Austin Website is Confusing

Do any of you agree? There are at least 4 different web formats for different parts of the website and there's just so many different links everywhere. It's so convoluted.

It’s a big university, lots of stuff to offer. I like it. This way, only those who take initiative can find what they’re looking for!

There is a lot of information, you get used to it.

What? It is a great website. I think it is very well designed and easily navigated. Personally, I think it is one of the best school websites out there.

I agree with Pred, it is a great website - one of the best university websites i’ve encountered. Its very informative, I usually find all of my answers there.

Yea, I agree with Pred too. It’s very well designed. Look at other state universities’ websites with sizes comparable to UT, they’re harder to navigate in.

Its way better than most of the other college websites I’ve had to deal with

I think that until you become familiar with the site, you really need to use the search button or better yet do google searches using site:utexas.edu At first it was hard to know which tab or category things will fall under; it can be hard to navigate your way to information by clicking down to it. As foxshox said, “you get used to it.”

There really is a wealth of information there on the utexas.edu web site, though. It was a great help to our family in figuring out how UT works. At this time two years ago, I did not know that UT was in Austin and I only knew the Longhorns existed because of Jenna Bush. *Sorry! but I didn’t really understand what Big 12 football is. I only knew Big 10, where I often was hopeful for the Minnesota Gophers and I knew OSU was short for our state flagship Ohio State. just a mom… *

The Housing office in particular has been very nice about responding to emails from my daughter or me, which has been much appreciated.

And of course I am a Longhorns fan now.
