yay for hiding out in penn dorms during a fire drill.

Yay. /comment/

Famous last words (heard, not spoken): "This is NOT a drill!"

haha. locked the door.

unfortunately, I seemed to have locked my friend's room mate out as well.

they announced it was a drill, but expected everyone to walk 1-3 blocks from the building anyhow.

Spinners...is it my imagination or are they making a comeback? I thought they were "out," but now I see so many around that I have to assume one of three things:

a) people who drive phat Escalades with spinners have no sense of shame;

b) they have no sense of what's "in" and are trend laggers; or

c) spinners never went "out" -- they've been "in" and are staying "in."

D00D, I got Spinnerz on my lawnmower, it's totally trikked-OUT.

I really want pizza. Now.

Pork chops and applesauce.

"Oh-My-God"
"I KNOW!"
"Oh nooo."
"Hi"
"How you doin'?"

The weather in NYC sucks today.

My legs hurt if they're crossed too long.

I hate waking up early to do homework.

My alarm is odd.

i really dont want to go to work today.

Brook Farm was a transcendentalist experiment to create a self-regulating, utopia-like community. It organized life in new ways, and allowed its members to reach their spiritual and moralistic potentials. The transcendentalists created Brook Farm in order to be isolated from the rest of hectic society, so they created an economy that was independent from the outside market.

Many famous intellectuals lived at Brook Farm, including Nathaniel Hawthorne, Emerson, and Thoreau. The culture fostered a passion for studying, but during leisure hours, there was still plenty of time for parties, picnics, and plays.

Although Brook Farm was successful in providing a positive, independent learning environment, it failed to prosper economically because of a lack of skilled, blue-collar labor. Its fate was sealed after a devastating fire in 1846, which forced its liquidation. Brook Farm may have been a failure, but transcendentalists continued to reform society by pushing for more individual freedoms and social progress, and eventually supported the abolition of slavery.
