The verbal section!!!!!!!!

OK, so I have been memorizing a lot of words, but when I took practice tests, I still did bad.
Any advice on vocab-memorizing techniques? Good books/websites?
Really scared...

That’s the same with me but you should read books and newspapers and look up any word you don’t know. Also try to find the root word of the word(most have one) Are you applying for Exeter?

I’m looking into many BSs including Exeter, are you?

One game for memorizing vocab is to take a stack of flashcards (shuffled), pick 4 words off the top and try to use them all in a single sentence. Pick 4 more and try to come up with a second sentence that would make a story with the first. See how long you can keep it up.

Exoveerotch im applying for Exeter and a good way to memorize is to use [Flashcards, vocabulary memorization, and studying games | Quizlet](http://quizlet.com/)

Go ahead and memorize it’s helpful just in general. But for me…I didn’t get one word I studied and they didn’t help me the first time. The second time I didn’t get one word I studied …but I just seemed to know them all. I ended up with 24/30 correct…and the other 6 omitted.

If you do great one, either the synonyms and analogies, and hold your own on the other section…you should be in the 80’s or 90’s

which section do you guys who have already taken SSAT think is (slightly) easier?
Some book advise me to go to the analogies first, and skip the synonyms… I don’t know if that really helps

I would go for whichever one is easier for you, first. I did the synonyms first personally. But I could hear a lot of the class skipping to the analogies first…Goodluck!

thanks guys!!

Any more advices…

Umm… I did the best on vocab, so I’d just say… Latin roots are useful. :)

Greek and Latin???

Suure. Whatever helps you understand that the parts of a word often combine into the meaning of the whole word. I guess. :)

ROOTS!!! google them and print out a list thats what I did
and make this site your home page. it gives you a lot of practice and it donates food to charity
FreeRice

FREE RICE is pretty fun!!

I think its only for definitions but still is studying.

I’ve just donated 1000 grains of rice lol

whoo! way to go!
it can get pretty addictive I must say… usually I take a dictionary with me so I can donate more rice and continue to beat the game! I get the most obscure vocabulary…

does anyone even remember what their application essays were about and were they hard

I used free rice too! Also when we were reading books in english i would stop and look up the words i didn’t know…that helped a lot and it only takes like two seconds!
