Has anyone else noticed this? The photos are almost all... darker, or something. Before I visited, I thought Penn was ugly. Penn has a gorgeous campus and could be showing it off on its website the way other schools of equal prestige do... even my community college has a more impressive, attractive virtual tour and it's not even that nice of a campus.

Haha I know, not a huge deal, I've just been seeing posts on here about how Penn apps are down and Penn isn't marketing itself too aggressively etc... this just feels like another factor of that, to me. A lot of people still think of Penn as kind of gritty and unattractive, even though it has seen major improvements over the past few decades.

The weeks when they put those banners up on van-pelt (start.jpg), like NSO and alumni/graduation weeks are when Penn’s campus looks so beautiful, nicer than any other school I’ve seen. It’s unfortunate they can’t find better pictures from those days.

Though of course today looks nice today with all this snow, but I don’t think it would attract people…

School-wide, classes were not canceled, but many professors canceled their classes individually. I do not have classes on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays (now), so it was a moot point for me personally.

Most of the Philadelphia area K-12 districts are closed for the day. Many of the area universities (West Chester University, for example) have more commuter students and are closed as well. I’ve heard that Penn’s operation is highly tied to SEPTA - when SEPTA can’t run, Penn can’t open.

All that said, I have seen a few emails about events canceled this afternoon/evening. I think on the whole this storm hit later in the day than they expected.

And while he’s at it, how about putting the viewbook on the admissions web site as a .pdf? It’s amazing that it hasn’t been put there already. Penn’s admissions marketing needs a MAJOR overhaul, to say the least.

why don’t you fanboys/girls just give it up already? Penn is ass. It’s a terrible school. Snobby, rude staff; incestuous admission; located in Philly and falling rankings. Everyone else gets it, why don’t you?
(no I’m not venting over a rejection or anything like that --I just had plenty of interactions and a visit to prove to me the true virtue of this school)

Start calling and writing letters, people. The more they get, the more likely they are to do something about it.
