The wait is killing me

As patient as I’m trying to be, it is getting pretty nerve-wrecking now #:-S

I’m hoping to hear back from UCSD by saturday :C it would be a huge relief to know i got in on the first batch. I could stop worryin about these admissions and start focusing more on this semester again.

@redgadget3
I’m holding out a similar hope for UCSC and UCSB since they both start releasing decisions on the 17th; I’d really like to be in one of the first waves of admissions notifications just to ease my mind.
I honestly didn’t know how much the stress of waiting would effect my focus but this last semester is just totally off for me because of all the finalizing paperwork from my CC (i.e. graduation petition, IGETC certification), scholarship apps/essays, and this waiting which will only result in more paperwork once its done.

@AnthroFlo
I can’t wait to start hearing back… but at the same time I don’t think my stress levels are gonna go down too much even if i am accepted. I’m in a pretty tough semester right now so it’ll be more stress to keep up grades so we dont get our admissions rescinded =((((((
still though, cant wait to hear back haha.

@Redgadget3 - Be confident, and don’t think about it.

I applied to six schools and of those 6 I am guaranteed admission to two of them.

UCSB (TAG)

CSUCI (AA-T)

Now those are the bottom voices for me but they are still valid choices, I don’t get to hear back from my top choice (UCB) until 4/25 yeah it’s nerve racking but if you try not to think about it so much you’ll get by until then.

Anyone know what time UCSB will be releasing their first batch???

Monday cannot come by any faster… Ugh I am so nervous.

Although I TAG’d, I have a feeling I won’t get in for some reason…

I got dangerously close to the borderline, I got a 2.0 GPA this past Fall 2013 semester.

I have no idea what my overall GPA is right now… But at the time of applying it was a 3.55

I saw this somewhere else on the net:

Here’s some information, from my school’s Transfer Center about UC transfer decision dates for everyone. Some of the dates are more specific than those offered on the school’s respective websites, so use them as points of reference, rather than a way to plan when to start refreshing your email incessantly:

Berkeley: 4/25
Davis: 4/18
Irvine: 4/18
Los Angeles: Late April (probably week of the 25th)
Merced: 3/18 rolling
Riverside: 3/1 rolling
San Diego: 4/18 (UCSD site: mid-March to 4/30)
Santa Barbara: 3/17 rolling
Santa Cruz: 3/17 rolling

AnthroFlo, you mean I’m not supposed to be refreshing my email incessantly yet? That’s depressing…

Let’s all find a hobby in the meanwhile to kill time.

@sega18
Haha, I’m sorry to deliver such depressing news.

In all honestly though, its only a few more days and UCSC, UCSB, and Merced are supposed to start posting. I believe the list said that those UCs will start posting on the 17th or 18th. Its nerve wrecking but we can hold out to get some news from them, right? However, after that it is a month long wait for UCSD and Davis - then just an additional week for Cal and UCLA. To my understanding UCI and Riverside have already started their notifications…

I applied to SC, SB, Davis, LA and Cal so my only hope for early notifications are SC & SB but if they go in order of TAU submission then I’m pretty much stuck waiting until mid-late April for all admissions notices :(

The only “hobby” I should be partaking in right now is school work but sadly I am much too distracted to be doing too much of anything now a days.

Actually, it is already the 13th of March. I just finished my half semester Unix/Linux class, and, honestly, time is going really, really, fast. I’m going to visit UCSB and UCLA in April and that’s literally two and a half weeks away.

ANNNNND I should be getting the results from the actuarial exam I passed in January. But the SOA is taking forever with that too. It was supposed to take 6-8 weeks for my score to come out, and it’s now week 9. RAWRRRRRRR, everyone needs to move faster. Or maybe I need to be doing something more than juggling, studying, eating, and obsessing over exam results and UC admission.

…bollocks!!

I went to go see UCLA and UCSB earlier this year. hope you have a good time and that you gather useful insight on your trip.

I wish I could say that I was done with my semester, I typically really enjoy school but I’m finding it all too stressful this time around.

Right? What did you see at each school when you went? What attracted you about the locations? I remember reading something that you posted, but not precisely.

Well, not sure if I can say I was attracted to the locations per-say, I applied to the those schools because I had heard good things about their anthro programs; going to visit the campuses was just a way to gain insight about the atmosphere (something I feel is important when considering where I am going to live and go to school for 2yrs.)

UCSB was pretty easy to navigate and I essentially circled the entire campus.
The campus was okay but I wasn’t too keen on the library being under construction.
However, the vibes I got (from walking around/exploring) wasn’t something that was bad but it just wasn’t “right.”

At first glance UCLA was a no for me.
The campus is right off the city and I actually found myself having some difficulty navigating the campus.
But the more I walked around the more I felt a certain sense of comfort, good vibes I guess.

Gotta love them vibes. Ya, I don’t really know what I want to do on my trip down. I might talk to some landlords, talk to the departmental advisers for my major, and just walk around. Meh

For the most part all I did was walk around, I think its important to see what the real day-to-day life of the campus is like as opposed to the visitors events that they have everything is cleaned up and on display for you.

You can also try and stop by the visitors center to see if they have any good info for you to take with you.

^ I agree @AnthroFlo

I visited Berkeley twice; one with a tour guide and one without one. I preferred just walking around because there’s so much to explore that they sometimes don’t show in a tour guide.

@ocnative
Nice (:
I still need to re-visit Cal but when I went a few years back it was a visitors event and there was so many people I got kind of overwhelmed so I went into one of their libraries and ended up just sitting in there reading a book for a little while, needless to say I love libraries so it was actually a nice experience (:

Haha that’s funny! The only tour guide I actually liked was UC Santa Cruz because I knew I would’ve gotten lost easily if I went walking on my own :expressionless: lol.

I also got a guided tour of UCSC, though the campus isn’t that big.
After getting shown it once or twice I would’ve been okay on my own - maybe.
For me the easiest UC to navigate, that I’ve been to, is UCSB.
