@classicalmama, Is there anyway that we can access the article from the Exonian you keep referencing to? Thank you!

^Seconded, I really want to read this :)

Apparently 21 students were offered admission last Thursday or Friday. My dad called Admissions, and found out. Congrats to those who received letters!
PS Iām not one of them :ā(

Yeah, I heard. Well, hopefully there will still be movementā¦ even though hope seems to be fading. Iām probably going to contact them Thursday or Friday to see if they received the things I mailed in Monday.

Sure. Iām always a little hesitant to post a link to an article because of the way that the words of one or two students can be blown out of proportion to represent the entire schoolāand for privacy, which Exie is always concerned about. However, the Exonian is still wide open to the public, so what the heckā¦

Thereās something else Iāve read recently too, but canāt immediately lay my finger on it.

(The stuff about 21 offers perhaps equaling 15 admits in the past is purely speculation on my partā¦)

God, thatās a really honest newspaperā¦

It appears to me each BS segments their admitted students so I would expect different acceptance rates and yields by each of the segments. So while one segment may be over-enrolled, there could be another segment under enrolled, which may speak to the situation referenced above. It must be a crazy-difficult job to get it right, and I would think that to get it right, a school is actually hoping that they will need to accept a couple WL students per segment.

Let me explain what I mean by segments with our personal experience. When we went to boarding students revisit day, part of the programming had parents go to the dorm where there student would live the following year. It was in this forum that we learned that for freshman boarder boys, there were 400 applicants for 42 spots. I donāt know the applicant number vs. spots for freshman girls, sophomore boys, sophomore girls, freshman day students, etc. Can you image trying to admit the exact right number of students that will ultimately yield you 42 freshman boys? IĀm sure for certain segments there may be more flexibility, for example for day students the make up of boys vs. girls is not so critical, but for a dorm that can only handle 42 freshman boys, it needs to be precise!

Has anyone heard of movement from the St. George wait list?

Brendan, more on those segments in this weekās Exonian and on the admissions process in general. Might as well keep linkingā¦

iām annoyed, though, since it doesnāt say the average score for waitlisted applicants.

@ Oura54 suggest read the āwaitlistedā thread where good comments are made and give SG a call. Good luck.

Thank you ops!

Should waitlisted applicants send in an extra recommendation?

We were notified today by Deerfield and Middlesex that they are fully enrolled.

How, by e-mail or phone? And does that apply to all grades?

Ditto for Groton - we received an email (although DD had taken herself off their waitlist).

Mail for DA, email for MDX

Shockingly, I had not gotten anything from Deerfield Academy. What grade had you applying to?

If youāre in the Midwest, youāll get it in a few days. D applied for 9th.

Oh, okay. God, this really is a painful process. I had applied to tenth, so I wasnāt sure. Well, thatās one letter I am not looking forward to receiving.
