Iām not sure I understand this reply. My interpretation of it was that another baseball recruit denied both schools, and I am taking his spot. I donāt think that is the case, as reciting classes donāt really have a limit on them, I could just be taking any old accepted studentās spot. Let me know if I misread that, thanks!
Proximity to a city does not matter! Some students say they go about once a year. But both are great schools and you canāt go wrong.
I was talking to my ao and he said itās looking doubtful that they would go to the waitlist but that was for me so i donāt know if theyāre fully enrolled among all grade levels
yeah the only reason I said no was because I was afraid of Exeter seeing, since I already sent my LOCI stating they are my top choice.

If you donāt mind my asking, what application pool are you in? I am also on the Groton waitlist and havenāt received the email. I am a female applicant for the 9th grade.

I talked to someone (who has been in the game for a while and on both sides AO/GC) regarding the poster and Exeter. Nothing to take away from the posterās academics which are outstanding, but she believed it was a sports play for Exeter to make such a move this early.

No such thing as any old spot. They pull from WL to meet a specific need.

Grade 11 International (from Canada). The email went to the parents so not necessarily the students. My son didnāt get the email.
@usernameuser98 your interpretation is correct. As @skieurope said there is no such thing as any old spot. AOs curate the classes, and the WL serves to preserve that.
If a baseball player walks away, they hopefully have another one in the wings so to speak. Particularly when you are dealing with sports. Teams will often have a specific hole they must fill such as a graduating soccer goalie, or no distance specialist on the swim team. It is not a matter of bodies.
If a female, boarder, pianist walks way, a male basketball player will not be called, or even a female one. Nor will a day student, either boy or girl.
