Anything useful? We were out and couldn’t participate.

@twinsmama Not really. They basically said to have the kid keep in touch. Most of the info can be found on these boards.

OK, thanks.

@stargirl3 They confirmed what you know already. The AO does have a pile of FP and FA applications. He was honest about that reality. He also said there are still schools out there with FA. I found that surprising.

FYI, Loomis is still working on assembling their incoming class. The AO I spoke with made it clear that the odds of admission with FA are low at this point, but he did not say it was impossible. I would imagine that could still be true at some other top schools; after all, if some schools are overenrolled, others have a lower yield than they expected.

What I have seen on here is that both Andover & Exeter overenrolled, meaning they will not be going to their waitlist (at least for ninth grade girls and most likely boys). I have seen that Hotchkiss, Deerfield, and one other went to their waitlist before April 10th and are now closed.

@twinsmama I’m applying late to Loomis. Forever wishing for good luck to your D!

@stargirl3, Somehow I thought you had applied there already. I’ll bet it would be a good place for you and for my daughter. Maybe you’ll meet up yet! Good luck!!!

@stargirl3, I loved Loomis and I’m hoping that you and @twinsmama’s daughter here good news from them! It’s a great school that deserves two great girls!

@stargirl3 It may also help that you are not applying for 9th grade. I recall one OP here said he turned down LC with FA. Hoping the $$ goes to another deserving kid.

Anybody has heard from Winsor school? Do they usually go to their Waitlist?

@grx567 I am applying for ninth. I’m a reapplicant because I applied to Groton for eighth grade last year. :)

@stargirl3 Who have you spoken to at Loomis? Are there other schools you are going to apply late to? I’m not sure if you need FA-but Loomis is tapped out

@stargirl,
in twinsmama’s thread, I posted an analysis of which schools are a better bet for 10th grade available slots (check out my 30-march post about bank robber Willie Sutton):
<a href=“Question on "second tier" schools - #61 by GMTplus7 - Prep School Admissions - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-admissions/1628623-question-on-second-tier-schools-p5.html

Silly me. I just realized u applied for 9th grade, not 10th.

You might use this list for nxt year’s cycle.

Clarification: I’m applying for ninth grade and need full aid. I’m applying late to a few other longshots as well, but one can never be on too many waitlists, 'eh?

I haven’t spoken to anyone yet but that should change sometime next week.

Actually, I guess I talked to whoever picked up the phone in the admission office. They granted me a fee waiver, and it’s part of Gateway, so I didn’t see why not.

@stargirl as many have commented before me, we all recognize you as an amazing person. Are you saying that you havent had any contact with admissions since you were placed on the wait list? I am astounded if so. You need to call all of them and if you have a first choice (like Groton) let them know you would definitely take the spot if it were offered. Obviously, you can only do that for one school and it has to be a first choice. I think that significantly ups your chances of being pulled. If a school goes to the wait list, they want to fill that spot with no more iterations.

Sorry if I misunderstood something from your post above and this is all self-evident and I’m being a crazy drone!

We all wish you the very best of luck - I think any school would be very very lucky to have you.

@gratefulmom89 Oh, no, I’ve been on the phone and writing letters! Thank you! I simpy haven’t had contact with anyone at Loomis, where I’m applying late.

and @stargirl, to clarify - whatever school is your first choice at THIS point (which can include you factoring your likelyhood of getting in) is fair game. The point is to be honest with admissions at whatever school that is that you would take a spot if it were offered.

@gratefulmom89 It’s so hard to pick… I’ll try to get on the phone this week!
