Wow! Congratulations!
@Periwinkle Thank you!
@payn4ward Did you apply any techniques while you were on the waitlist, like writing to the admissions Director or updating achievements/grades etc? Congratulations!
Congrats @payn4wardâ that is awesome news.
A friendâs kid got off the Loomis waitlist today too
Thank you @RedSoxFan18 @Goat4fun and everyone !
@Goat4fun We wrote, in a few days after decision, to the regional AO who interviewed us. In this case the AO had signed the wait list letter not the director. I (the parent) wrote that we would love to attend and commit once accepted. The student (S) wrote to the AO, expressed his continued interest, and gave his updates, all A grades, awards (MathCounts) and advancements in his EC.
The AO emailed back and said he would advocate for my kid and to stay in touch.
Both were emails not handwritten. We donât have legible handwriting. X_X
@payn4ward That is encouraging. We did the same by email for our waitlist schools. Was this FA waitlisted as well for you guys or just a pure wait list?
@Goat4fun We are full pay.
@payn4ward Congratulations! I am new on this and I thought that schools start to see waitlists after April 10th. Do you know how this could happen before the enrollment deadline?
Thank you @lucynthesky! I donât know what goes inside the Admission office. I do know that in the past people did get off waitlists a few days before A10. Perhaps they count the responses so far, enrolling vs non-enrolling, and make estimates/extrapolate the total yield? Perhaps they already received significant numbers of non-enrolling responses? Who knows? This happens with schools with lower yields. Highly coveted schools would wait till A10.
Just got an email from DS1 reminding me that this was the day (over a decade ago) when he got off the Choate waitlist, i.e. April 6. So maybe depending on the year and the category youâre in, they know before April 10 if they have room. He did end up attending Choate, had a fantastic experience,went on to a great college, and now has a job he loves in the foreign service.
Does anyone know anything about the Peddie waitlist? (10th grade)
Anyone know if thereâs been any movement in the waitlist for Exeter? (Applying for 10th grade)
Has anyone heard anything on financial aid waitlist at Loomis ?
@myrealname23 I disagree that day students âare less qualifiedâ than boarders. My DD, a day student, has scores and GPA significantly higher than her schoolâs average, not to mentions other qualities. Also, I do know some day students who were WLed.
If you are accepted, but on financial aid waitlist, if you do not put deposit by 4/10 do you lose your spot ?
@new2this17: Check the schoolâs website for waiting list Q&A. The deadline varies from school to school. Naming one school from memoryâfor Exeter, I believe you have 1 week to confirm acceptance off waitlist.
@thereddevils itâs not looking good for you and I. Apparently there has been very little movement thus far.
Just received an email from Choate saying that there will be no movement in the day wait list. They are still analyzing the boarding wait list.
So if youâre wait listed as a day student to Choate, youâre out of luck.
