Just got a phone call too from Choate. They wanted to speak to DS but he was still sleeping. (I didn’t ask why he was calling because i was really hAngry and needed to eat something.) I came here to look if anybody else has gotten a phone call. Looks like it. I’m confused because we never put him on the WL but it was DS first choice, not mine. Our consultant said she tried to call Choate to figure out what happened and she never indicated that she spoke to them about DS. I dont know what to do. DH doesn’t want me to tell DS. I think I have to. What would you guys do? (We already sent MX deposit–based on mantra “love the school that loves you”.)
@Nico.campbell I would love to know which school you are picking because your posts sometimes reminds me of my DS.
I realize that this might not be “off WL” phone call but if its just to explain why he didn’t get accepted, I dont think that warrants a personal phone call.
Nothing. If it’s important, they will call back. On a WL call, they will not go to the next name on the list simply because the call recipient is asleep/in the shower/at the library, etc.
@panpacific@Nico.campbell@skieurope AO could have told me why he was calling, he was very nice and super enthusiastic. He asked DS to call him back on his cell phone anytime. He said it was in regards to WL. I guess, I could have asked then but I was thinking of MX as well.
@skieurope@panpacific@Nico.campbell@desie1 Thanks for the quick reply! It was an offer of acceptance. DS was told they accepted too many last year and had triples which didn’t work out too well. They lowered acceptance rate this year. DS has until Monday to make decision. I’m just letting him sit with it for awhile.
DS asked AO why he wasn’t admitted in the first place. AO said it wasn’t his file or personal. AO told my son they were under strict orders to not admit too many because they had to accommodate kids they accepted last year which meant creating triples. They didn’t want to do that again this year. They accepted 18% last year and 15% this year. My son applied as 10th grader.
@panpacific LOL. Not so simple especially since we can’t revisit. MX #2 choice for him. I liked that we had a strong gut feeling about MX. I have a long list of pros for MX. My gut really says MX but I’m trying to stay quiet. We’ve had almost a month to have MX sit in our consciousness. I’m letting him mull over and figure out.
