The wait

@owensfolks @Momw3boys Got a yes from UNC. Does anyone know anything about their theatre dept? She has actually never been surprising consider we live 2.5 hrs away. Will probably visit and talk to dept of theatre. I think she picked Communications as her major. Its less than half the price of Elon. FSU just came in with in state tuition and a small scholarship which is looking like a good option and applying into the BA since she didn’t get into the BFA.

Congrats to @owensfolks and @kaf011 on your Ds acceptances to UNC! Seems my S hasn’t heard yet. As for drama at UNC, we met with the head of the drama department and toured their facilities and we were very impressed. They partner with a well regarded local repertory theatre and they have an excellent graduate acting program. Plus as a top 5ish state school the degree holds alot of weight. I personally felt that UNC would be great option for him. It would also allow you to double major, if so desired.

@ kaf011 UNC Chapel Hill has an excellent MFA, can’t remember if it’s in MT or straight acting. You can’t beat UNC Chapel Hill for academics. So hard to get into that school especially from out of state. Let us know how your visit went regarding theater.

Our wait is over… at least from hearing back from schools regarding acceptance. Three acting schools to visit so we can help D decide. It’s going to be interesting. Not even sure she will pick schools for acting. She may go the non-performing route and take acting classes on the side. Our team goal from the beginning was to not break the bank and help D find the best option we could afford for her. Congrats to everyone for making it this far and those who are still waiting!

@kaf011 My D applied to UNC as kind of a “what if I go to PA high school senior year and decide a BFA MT is not for me?” back-up: Never considered going there for theatre. She was accepted for Media & Journalism-would have done Broadcast Journalism, I suspect. She has two friends from her non-PA high school (the one she attended 9-11) who were Freshmen at UNC this year, and were very involved in the theatre productions (including a lead in a Fall show.) At this point (a bit to her father’s, and my dismay) she is unwilling to consider anything but a BFA, and unwilling to consider anything but MT.
Congrats, @WorkOfHeart17 ! On to the next stage: The cost/benefit analysis! The $$ piece is huge for our family.

More waiting! Argh! D is on NYU/Tisch waitlist.

NYU wait list and now waiting for Syracuse tomorrow …

@momto2artists and @kaf011 Tisch is a tough one to have to wait on, congrats!

NYU Tisch is a YES. Very happy for my D! She’s a great kid and worked so hard but thought she bombed her audition. Just proves that this is an unpredictable process and you have to stay positive. Probably much like being a professional actor. If she chooses otherwise she loves Temple, I know there are some great kids on the Tisch WL!!

D was waitlisted for Western Michigan acting BFA!!! Now more waiting, lol. I wonder when they will send final decisions.

wait lists for NYU Tisch and Syracuse. Life was easier when we knew we were just going to Elon, now there are options. congrats @MimiCat @chirodoc18

Wait Lists are a gift and a curse…

@kaf011 : being waitled is hard. My S has decided on BU so will be turning down his NYU acceptance hopefully that opens up a slot for your D! He was also waitlisted at Syracuse so will pull out there. I wish your daughter the best. Would she pick either NYU or Syracuse over her current choices? If so I would think a flurry of lobbying at this point would demonstrate real interest.

@Momw3boys I think she would. We need to visit Syracuse, we did Unifieds and their program sounded awesome. We visited NYU a year ago and she was hooked then.I have no idea how the wait list works if its a boy for boy or girl for girl? But either way, THANKS! and congrats on BU!
