The Waiting Game! (or: When Do We Hear Back?)

It doesn’t seem so bad now, cuz acceptances and rejections are starting to appear in this forum. Before this week, time was at a standstill…day after day we’d log on to the forum and NOTHING was happening. The day of reckoning seemed so far away. At least now when we open up CC every day there’s usually some news from at least one of us hopefuls! Let’s all hang in there.

I am going crazy!

I received an email and voicemail from David at Emerson today that was very encouraging. He basically said that I should email him with any questions about the program and wished me best of luck going thru the academic process. I have yet to receive an official Emerson Acceptance Package but I figured I would post that information in here. For everyone who auditioned for the program, fear not. I contacted admissions via email several days ago with questions about my BFA status. I think that the fact that I got a business card from David put it towards his attention. I’m not sure though. Congrats to all who have received official acceptances from colleges!

Has anyone heard from CMU yet? Mid April sounds kind of late and their auditions ended on February 28th.

My D received her Fordham acceptance yesterday. At Guthrie this weekend!

Nobody has heard from CMU. They notify around April 1 every year.

Does anyone know anything about UNCSA? There have a been a few rejection notifications on this board (and it looks like one drama acceptance), but I’m still in the dark.

bogface – if you’re not sure about your status, I don’t think there’s anything wrong in contacting them directly. I did get my rejection letter from UNCSA already, and it sounds like at least some acceptances were sent out. For UNCSA at this point, I think no news is good news  Best of luck!

Has anyone heard from Purchase?

nope still waiting…

My D received her rejection letter today.

Do you mind telling us where you are?

upstate ny

for cmu i believe accepted students are notified around march 15th by email or phonecall…i thought they called everyone, but i know of some current students who were emailed by gary and other who barbara called.

Wait. Im confused about CMU. So there are phone calls and emails sent out the second week of March? Can any parents with CMU acceptances in the past recount their experience please.

Ugh… I hate even thinking about it.

Meeee toooo. I feel like most of us could stand to take the advice of your screen name.

Also, updated for UNCSA:

Boston University – late March to early April
CalArts – Late Feb / Early March (past history)
CMU – mid-April (website)
DePaul – mid-March (website)
Emerson – April 1 (from EA deferrment letter)
Evansville – Late Feb
Fordham – end of March/April 1 [or mid/end Feb???]
Ithaca – March 1 (or within two weeks of audition for some)
Minnesota – mid/end Feb. for callbacks
NYU – mid March for “Accepted Students Weekend” and April 1 for everyone else, early April for studio placement
Roosevelt CCPA – 2-3 weeks after your audition
SUNY Purchase – Decisions begin 1st week of March
Syracuse – early to mid-March. Acceptances are sent out in 2 or 3 batches, so all do not arrive at the same time.
UArts – rolling (Clear acceptances or rejections usually w/in 2 wks of audition; others at end of audition cycle)
UCLA – March 1-31 (website) (or March 15, the date given at auditions/interviews)
UNCSA – Decisions beginning early march

I dont even know if I can take that advice right now! That sn was from my NYU audition when the auditor asked me what I would say if the entire world was listening. I thought I was being profound, but I feel so hypocritical right now!

Anyways, any parents of accepted students want to share their details?

about CMU…I thought at first that it was only phone calls. But one of the current MT students I have been in contact was notified by an email from Gary…I did some more digging and recall reading somewhere that another current MT was given a call by Barbara…it might be different for acting acceptances, but I believe it would be similar to this. The one thing I know for sure is that accepted students find out around mid-march. The 15th give or take a couple days. March 15th was the date my monologue coach, who has had students accepted in the past, said they notify accepted students.

Has anyone heard from any of the following schools?

CMU
NYU Tisch
Boston University
Emerson
DePaul
USC
Pace

If you have, was it by email or postal mail?
(I live internationally, so sometimes it takes up to a month for postal mail to reach me!)
