The waiting is almost over! Early Decision notifications will be mailed on Thursday, December 15. If you indicated an e-mail address on your application for admission, you will receive your decision by e-mail on Thursday evening. Your official packet will follow.

i realized the reality of getting rejected when columbia sent out their emails to my ED friends.. i'm just imagining opening that email 3PM thrusday chills

Laxfan...can you tell us about anything you know about the quality of the applicant pool? Or is that like..."not allowed" since the decisions haven't been mailed yet...

I can just imagine myself going to my computer at home, opening my inbox, and keeling over from nervousness. haha.

I wonder how they tell you if you were deferred or rejected over the phone... if it's an automated message, or someone actually tells you. I'd hate to be the person that tells applicants their rejections, but I guess it balances out with the acceptances.

Imagine the day after, at school..
You could be bragging to your friends and jumping around going wild... OR
You could be depressed, as everyone else is accepted but you.

I wish the admissions officers could email the decision in the morning, so we don't have to twist and turn and take like 10 sleeping pills to sleep. i think it would be easier just to not sleep on the 14th

aVenger, sorry can't help you with any details about quality.
jose1, do final decisions have not been made - they won't be made until late on Dec. 14.

Additionally, I will not be able to post any stats or details on "quality" until those numbers are officially released to the public by the Director of Admissions.

And emails can not be sent in the morning, because they cant be sent until every piece of mail has been dropped off at the post office -- which happens in the afternoon.

"final decisions have not been made - they won't be made until late on Dec. 14"

That's crazy...I thought I was a procrastinator...haha

"Additionally, I will not be able to post any stats or details on "quality" until those numbers are officially released to the public by the Director of Admissions."

That's what I figured, but I asked anway...we don't want to make you get yourself in trouble...haha

It is not procrastination. The adcoms are working very hard and these decisions are not easy to make. Reading 1050+ applications in less then three weeks is a daunting task.

Remember, the JHU ED deadline is Nov. 15 -- they give applicants two additional weeks to apply than most other ED deadlines. So to turn around decisions that quickly is an amazing task. I do not envy how hard they work...

at night...i cant imagine how im going to be all day on the 15th. yestoday i was so scared all day for my friend who heard from columbia, and it wasnt even my decision!! i think i'm gonns have a heart attack.

All I know is that my spanish presentation on thursday is going to be horrendous. It's the last period of the day and I'll just be squirming to run out the door to check my email.
