The Waitlist Process

It seems like I'm one of the few in the grey area. How does the waitlist process work and Stanford and how many people make it off the waitlist? Does anyone have some real stats?

Thanks,
Abhinav

bump (10 char).

I am also waitlisted, but I think I will end up going to CAL anyway.

The number of people accepted from the waitlist really changes year after year. You can check http://www.stanford.edu/home/statistics/ which says that 15 people got in from the waitlist last year.

how many are waitlisted this year?

what are the chances of getting off the waitlist? if anyone has done so for stanford, how do they do it?

I'm in "the grey area" myself. Best of luck (but not too much ;) ) to all the rest. Any insights on the waitlist process would be appreciated.

I have a quick question? I can't decide what to do. Should I register w/ berkeley or go with the waitlist process. I am afraid what would happen if I wait for the waitlist decision and I don't get into Stanford. Then, I wouldn't be able to go to Berkeley or Stanford...........

You should enroll with Berkeley and stay on the waitlist for Stanford. If you get into Stanford, you withdraw from Berkeley and enroll at Stanford.

Yes, send in your waitlist card but proceed as if you are going to another school (sending in deposits etc.)

How does waitlisting work?

I think I figured out why I was waitlisted. (as opposed to rejected)

I live on Stanford Drive!!

They must have just thought that was so darn cool. (yay coincidences)
So they cut me a break.

lol.

yep i get waitlisted too, and honestly i thought i was going to get flat out rejected lol, i think it helped that my dad's an alum and i'm an urm, it's just crazy cause all these kids at my school who i thought would definetely get in got flat out rejected :/

Yep. I'm also on the waiting list, and judging from how many people it seems are on the same list, I would guess that chances of acceptance from the waiting list are quite low. :/ Kinda sucks.

ughhh the worst thing about being waitlisted is i keep thinking whether i could have gotten in if i applied early action! :( :(
