I need some advice regarding waitlists and selecting a college! I was waitlisted at Kenyon and decnison but did not accept the spot. However, I was waitlisted at umiami (a school I’ve loved since soph yr) and northwestern (double legacy, where my dad would love for me to go). I don’t know exactly what to send them or how to write a loci. My college counselor at school is not super helpful and doesn’t rly like me.
I was accepted into Miami Ohio’s business school w $21 k. I think I could fit in, it’s a good size, and not too expensive. The only con is the super long drive which makes it harder to come home on weekends. My friend also committed there and I didn’t want to go to the same school and wanted to branch out. I don’t like that it looks like I’m following her, but this of course is not a deterrent and just a tiny silly thing to think about.
I applied to FSU not rly in a serious way and ended up getting oos tuition waiver. It’s the best school for accounting according to niche and my cheapest option. I keep telling my parents that I would be able to fly home more often since the coa is low. I’m visiting at the end of the week in hopes of rly liking it and being able to make a decision.
Overall, I love northwestern and uMiami but I think waiting for a college is unreasonable. I’ve already waited too long since I applied regular decision. On top of that, I need to find a roommate, study for ap exams, etc. although I love those schools and plan on sending them more for my application, Im not going to pathetically beg a school to let me in.
I was just admitted to University of Miami for the spring 2022 semester. From my understanding, a very LARGE amount of regular decision/deferred Umiami applicants were waitlisted this year. I honestly don’t think there’s much hope for waitlisted applicants at UMiami this year. It seems that in general you shouldn’t wait for a waitlisted school (I was waitlisted at Bucknell and have decided to decline because of the amount of waitlisted applicants this year). While I can’t speak for Northwestern, My advice would be to attend either Miami Ohio or FSU (both GREAT schools) and then if you don’t like it transfer. To be honest, most employers won’t care where you go to college. Your college choice speaks more about who you were as a high school senior than an employer. Hope this helps and congrats
I think you’ve got two great options between Miami-OH and FSU. FSU is a great school, especially with the oos tuition waiver, so definetly a great choice. Miami-OH is very nice as well, but FSU is probably a better option considering price and general rankings. Always good if you can go to an awesome school with an awesome price tag! I wouldn’t bother much with waitlists, but you can still leave your name on it after you’ve commited to a different school just to see the possible outcome. Good luck on your tour!
Definitely send LOCI to NU and UMiami since you love both, but if do you have a preference for either, you could tell them they’re your top choice. Update them with anything that happened in your senior, esp mid-term grades if they didn’t get them.
You don’t have to take Community college classes in the fall as a Umiami spring admit, but if you want to graduate with the rest of your class, then it’s advised that you take CC classes. Otherwise you might graduate a semester later than the rest of your classmates. I think spring admits get scholarships.
