The Waitlist System at Duke

Hi everyone.

I, like many others, was very dissapointed when I recieved my decision from Duke and saw that I had been waitlisted. I thought I had a really good chance of getting in and, being a pre-med hopeful (haha yes another one), I really wanted to get into an excellent med school feeder such as Duke.

I am just wondering whether or not I should get on the waitlist. What are the chances of getting in in previous years? Are financial aid packages for waitlistees good, or are they just the scraps that are left over from the RD and ED kids?

Thanks!

bump for good measure? :)

I don't know if there's a fee for the waiting list, if there is - I would start to look at my other options. If not, it can't hurt to put your name on it.

Bottom line is that no one knows how the waitlists will work out this year, not even Duke. They underadmitted and overwaitlisted to watch for the moves from other top tier schools and expect ~50% yield more or less. I don't think previous waitlist numbers can be an accurate predictor with this situation.
