I am on the exeter waitlist and they just told me last year they disnt take more than 20 kids. Has anyone heard anything. I already told Loomis, Milton, MNH, concord that I will not be attending. Still debating between Choate and Andover

Twenty kids? This seems many more than others have posted. There was a Cate student who posted that at school assembly they were informed that their yield is 65%? Any current Exeter students out there know what the yield is for Exeter? The wait list must be large because many on this site were wait listed and I know of two students in our area placed on the wait list. Would they tell you how many students were on the list? How many students on list expressed an interest in remaining on the list?

They didnt provide that info. They told me they would know more around mid april( after deposits are due). They also stated they do not rank waiting list

I’m also on the loomis waitlist. They said the number wait listed for each “group” (grade and gender) is somewhere between 5-7 people. Has anyone gotten off the loomis waitlist yet? Or in the past years?

Just found this website so only saw the first wait list discussion, but I think the folks on the wait list might start heaing from schools trying to gauge who is still interested and stuff.

Will people post if they got off waiting lists?

Probably so. I hope you all get off.

We will post for sure!!! We were told we will hear from Pomfret this week and possibly Loomis

Good luck everyone.

Cariar: Are you seriously holding out for Exeter?

You got accepted into some great schools!!

Love the fricking school that fricking loves you!!

If you wait for the Exeter thing and the deadline passes and you end up not going anywhere… =;

Cariar: Choate is a great choice and excellent school plus it is close to JFK (airport). My opinion is to go there and don’t look back!

…

For some reason Exeter is my number one, but I will move on and love the school that loves me. I dont want to miss my chances at either Choate or Andover, but still cant decide
Sending best wishes to everybody on the WL

@Cariar don’t you think that if you got into Exeter it would only complicate your decision even more? I am guessing your parents would not drop the 4-5K and walk away from it for your WL dream. I truly believe that some of this is the BS selling an impossible dream. I was at a local presentation for Andover where the admissions representative said well if it does not work out the first time than maybe it will on the second or third time. Really? I am supposed to continually shell out that application fee each year because your school is “special”? If you do not want me the first time than I am going to the school that did want me. I just do not believe that all “Masters of the Universe” come from any one particular school. I understand reapplying if you have no admission offers but if you have perfectly acceptable schools than would forget about wait list.

@Cariar: I see you are still debating? From what I recall Andover offered you FA whereas Choate didn’t. Seems to me that, seeing as Andover is an EXCELLENT school of similar size to Choate, the better choice might be where the financial impact on your family is the least would be the best choice (i.e. Andover). Do not underestimate the additional costs of attending school away from home (travel costs, setting up cell phones, buying new electronics that work in the USA, etc). Good luck with your decision. You didn’t ask me, but since you are still debating, I thought I might jump in with general advice. Waiting for a top school to clear a waitlist when they are most likely already over-subscribed, will be a risky proposition. I don’t know: maybe you already chose by now!

Thanks for your advice! I am happy to announce that I will be attending Andover. Thanks again

Nice.

Congratuilations!

I got off the wait list at Millbrook, so now I don’t know whether to choose between Pomfret or Millbrook.
