Eff my life.

Well not HYPS but I did apply to Penn and Cornell and now I don't see a lot of good news coming on 3/31.

yah LazyAzn i foresee some doom over the horizon.

i heard washu waitlists overqualified candidates (or so it seems)

i applied to cornell, duke, northwestern, rice, and university of chicago.

i got waitlisted at WUSTL...damn, no hope now =/

^ Yeah, that totally counts lol.

One thing to consider: WashU is need-aware (as opposed to need-blind), so if you applied for a lot of FA, that was one more reason to waitlist you :/

a2npersuas2n, I love you for making that comment, even though it's not true in my case haha (2270 SAT, 3.98 GPA, decent ECs....basically the run-of-the-mill lol)

I think that really characterizes Washington U. I mean... I think it is really trying to revamp its image and as a result, takes yield into account.

^^^Irrefutably true.

Ehh, it might have something to do with Wash U's need-based admissions. With this economy, I think income bracket might have a pretty big impact.

I personally got a likely letter from Dartmouth last month, but got waitlisted by Wash U. My family's reported income was only 17000 though. shrug

Last year at my D's school about 5-7 were waitlisted - I know at least 2 later got offers to join (can't remember when they heard, though).

@ Midaji ^ That's the best story so far, considering the ENTIRE POINT of an Ivy likely letter is to "snatch up applicants who are basically expected to get in everywhere." hahaha

can you guys believe the admission %?

~1400 students out of 23,000+ ***

^ They accepted way more than that, knowing that they'll get turned down by a ton of people. 1400 is the final # of students in the freshman class next fall.

Hey, guys! As soon as you get a high-profile acceptance to another school, be spiteful and come post here hehe.

Midaji claims the first one with a Dartmouth acceptance, WashU waitlist psh.

read carefully. 1400 spots & 23000 applicants.

yeah i just realized that after posting. sorry! thats just me trying to rationalize my waitlist! lol

I'm joining the club (unfortunately). How many students does WashU usually waitlist and/or accept from the waitlist?

Ahh, it's all downhill from here, and I feel like now I'm doomed to go to my state school (UW-Madison) which my parents made me apply to for good finaid (I'm ranked 2 and got the sal. scholarship). Ugh! I reeaaaly wanted a WUSTL acceptance!

Yeah, a "class of 1400", which means that WashU will need to accept many more than 1400 (unless their yield rate has suddenly jumped to 100%).

Don't worry Coffee, I may not attend WUSTL because that means I have to pay $200,000 for my undergrad education. If I get a Cornell Guaranteed Transfer then I might (MIGHT) go.

coffee, i know the feeling. i dont want to go to my state school either...

Re getting off the waitlist - see my Post #10 (above). Both of the folks who got calls did not accept - they were at that point quite happy with their other choice(s)!
