I've been calling USNA admissions and getting transferred to the medical department to find out about my waiver (been waiting to hear since December 7, 2006) and every time I call they say either my file has not been reviewed, it's going to be reviewed, or whatever. A couple of weeks ago they mentioned to me when I called that it had been reviewed by one person, and they were waiting for it to be reviewed by someone else (they wouldn't tell me what the first decision was). Is this routine, bad, or good?

Just now, I checked my status on DoDMERB, like I always do, and the status has changed from "Pending Waiver Submission/Review" with the R code below it, to "Currently Under Review", with no Disqual code or R code addressing the waiver (denied, waiting, whatever).

Has anyone had any experience with this? I would call admissions but I'm always on hold for eternity and I either get the machine for the medical department or I get an unhelpful response. I'm being somewhat pressured to contract with Army ROTC at the University I attend and they're very interested in finding out the results of this waiver; i.e. they keep asking me when I'll know. Keep in mind, doing this would be a super way back there back-up plan.

Oh, and I've been disqual'd for Distance/Visual Acuity worse than 20/40 and bronchospasm after 13; would i need two waivers, or would one waiver encompass both things?

Anything anyone can say to help would be appreciated.

You will need a waiver for EACH and EVERY individual DQ decided at their leisure!

Call DoDMERB like maybe once a week to check in on their progress. There is a MSGT Bertrand I believe his name was who is really nice and helpful. He might be one to tell you when they're bringing your stuff to be reviewed or what is going on in there. I don't know his extension unfortunately. DoDMERB makes their reccomendations but the academies do the waiver if they like you. Call DoDMERB first then your academy contact.

DoDmerb has already reviewed everything; I'm waiting to hear about the waivers, which is on the Academy's end, but should nonetheless at some point appear on the DoDMERB website (I'm assuming).

patience is a virtue...

you are going to need lots of it, so just hang on...

the eternal waiting for everyone will be over soon....calling admissions every week won't help one way or the other; it will only land you will a larger phone bill. Army ROTC will wait...just don't miss their deadline. Until then, you will just have to be patient.

Did you ask DoDMERB what their recommendation was? I had that pending thing there forever!

As I mentioned to someone else, USNA is VERY STINGY on waivers for visual acuity.

The medical deadline however is supposed to be April 15th so you still have time.

does anyone else have info on this april 15th supposed deadline for medical waivers?
