The Washington Center

I saw a flyer for Political Internships in DC through this program. Does anyone have any experience with it?

What kind of internships? Do you really need to pay a huge amount of money for someone else to get you a mediocre (at best) internship? My understanding of this program is that they generally place people in “blah” internships, because they don’t do enough research and put enough effort into each individual applicant to get the good ones.

Obviously an internship is better than no internship, but I’m sure you could get something on the Hill by yourself. I don’t know what other “political internships” you would be looking for. What kind of opportunities are you hoping to get?

The thing is that I need to not get behind on credit, and my school “pre-approves” TWC internships and offers 12 credits. Since my school suggests it, I thought it might be solid, but looking through the website I noticed the fact that, like you said, you were paying for them to find you an internship.

To be honest, I am not entirely sure what type of internship I would like because I do not know what is available.

Does anyone know any good websites I can check out?

Yeah, what are the good websites for internships?

if you’re interested in the Hill, you can look on congress peoples’ websites, or senators’ websites, or committee websites (“house committee on X”, etc)

if you are interested in think tanks, start poking around google. There are tons of them, and they cover tons of different topics, from national security, to domestic politics, to green energy, etc.

if you are interested in government agency internships, you will probably have to poke around the websites of the various agencies you are interested in.

Bump…anyone know anything about the Washington Center?? Career services has suggested this to my son for a summer internship, but it seems crazy to have to pay to do an internship
