The weather?

So how is the weather like around Cornell? I do not like rain and snow. I hate too hot and too cold weather.

Any feedback on this will be appreciated much.

Thanks!

It's hard to believe that wimpy Cornell could be a harsher environment than the land of Chinggis Khan!

Well said. Though I have lived here all my life, I don't really like the weather. So I want to experience something different. Mild climate. Is it so then?

PS: Did you get a 800 on SATII USH? :p

If you don't like rain and snow, Cornell probably is not the place for you. It is truly gorgeous (or "gorges" as their ad campaign says) because it is very hilly, with a beautiful lake. But it can be very gloomy and cold off and on from late October through early April and there will be some (or lots of) snow on the ground usually from December through early March. My kid grew up in NY state, so is not fazed by the weather, but if you're looking for "mild climate", Cornell won't cut it.

there's about an inch or two of snow on the ground right now!

I think I will have to adapt there. Only a determining factor will be the FA package which I will receive in April.

I just thought if the weather is nice there my days there are going to be really great. Though it still is fine.

Many say Cornell's CS is one of the best in the country. And that is definitely only thing I would want to hear.

Thanks for the input, guys!

Sorry for the double post! I thought first one was not posted, but it actually was!

It's easy to adapt...and if you can't...that's what the bus is for :-)

Who is Chinggis Khan?

Snow... Sounds interesting. I will miss my Aussie summers though. :(

What do Cornell people recommend in order to stay warm outside?

This knarnley dude right here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinggis_Khan

I see, Chinggis is the Mongolian spelling. Interesting.

I've always typed knarnley as gnarly though. :)

Dennis: If nothing else...bring a good quality warm jacket, good boots, gloves and hat.

Genghis Khan is international spelling!

the weather sucks. I'm starting to think that ithaca is just one big weather experiment to see how much we can take. Its cold, mild, cold, decent, really effing cold, colder, then on a 10 degree day it rains (***?), then when its 35 it snows....its really confusing. But, even being from NC, I don't mind too bad, and I really like the snow. I'm just ready for spring, that's all.

No sun? No beach? :'(

Don't forget "mud season"--right after winter and just before spring.

how much does it rain? i cant stand it when its like 2 days of non stop rain
