The 'weirdness' of Reed

Hi everyone, I'm very very interested in Reed as a school. From outstanding academics to a beautiful location the school has a lot that I want. However, a lot of people I talk to tell me that Reed is 'weird.' I'm all for alternative culture and people who have different outlooks on life, but could anybody elaborate on this so-called weirdness and exactly what it is. Should a seemingly 'normal' person like me be afraid?

Thanks!!

Besides what you accurately described, it’s openness to everything (e.g., Roger Hobbs reportedly wore a suit around campus). You’d see and experience new things. It’s a bit of Portland’s weirdness.

I think I was pretty normal back then (my picture over the left from 1974 notwithstanding), and Reed was the perfect place for me.
